Guest guest
hi all, again! i had another episode of bad flushing, only this time i had more. i went to a doctors appointment to meet my new general MD. well, in the waiting room i wasn't feeling well. so i go in and they do the blood pressure thing and it goes off beeping. my blood pressure was relatively ok, but my pulse was at 149. so they get me in, get an EKG. my pulse went up to 170. by this time i had numbness all in my arms and legs. they took me to another room and transfered me. i was unable to even drive my wheelchair. they tried to get an IV but couldn't get it, took them about 10 tries. the doctors called the paramedics and they got the IV in alright. my pulse had gone down to 150, but i was paralysed. in the ER i felt better, and it dropped to 120. they took blood and an x-ray. all the doctors thought it was thyroid storm. but they did not treat me with anything, just kept me on a heart monitor. after about 5 hours my pulse was still faint but keeping steady between 105- 120, so they released me saying to see an endocrinologist. they said something about hypoglacymic (didn't spell that right) periodic paralysis and hyperthyroidism and thyroid storm. today i'm better, but still have a hard time lifting my arms, my pulse is at 120 and blood pressure is all over the place and i'm still flushing, but not as bad. marjorie? what do you think (since you work in an ER:-) anyone else have some thoughts?
