Guest guest
(I replied in response to the tan towel query that I was going to try them out myself, but I think I may have sent it directly to the original poster rather than to the list at large.) When I was at the shop this morning I saw several brands of tanning towels on the shelves. I bought Tantowel (www.tantowel.com). Application: 2PM My arms stay reasonably tan anyway, since I usually wear sleeveless or short-sleeved shirts in the summer; my face is ruddy (of course!); and my legs are the palest. When I opened the towel (I got the full- body one) it was very saturated and I didn't want to start out with all that on my face, so I did my legs first. Then I did my face and neck, all the way down to my chest (and not forgetting the back of my neck and under my ears), and finally my arms. I had read that some people find the full-body towels aren't enough to do the full body, but they seemed adequate to me. My face went a little pink when I applied it, but not much - in fact, probably less so than when I apply my moisturizer - and the pinkness faded within a few minutes. On the negative side - I found it more difficult with the towels than with creams or sprays to see what areas had or had not been covered, so I went over most areas 2-3 times to be sure. On the positive side - it was completely dry within 5 minutes of application, so no standing around arms and legs akimbo waiting for my body to dry so I wouldn't stain my clothes or furniture. Results: 5PM The effect is very subtle, so as you'd expect I notice it more on the paler areas, and least on the areas that had more color. My legs have a nice subtle golden tint to them, but I honestly don't notice any difference on my arms. Interestingly enough, the main effect on my face is to make it look less ruddy, rather than more tanned - this could be due to the fact that with the paler parts of my face subtly darkened, there is now less contrast between the pale areas and the red areas. The color seems even, and I've had absolutely no streaking at all in any of the areas. My face seems to be tolerating the color well, no problems thus far with itching or flaring. I bought two of the towels, so I'm going to try it again tomorrow, to see if I can get a bit more color. I'll report back after that to let everyone know whether any problems with my face developed overnight. Jane
