Guest guest
Eileen- 1. How and where did you do the stool test for yeast? Can regular MDs do it? 2. Is the basic idea to eliminate/minimize 'sugary' fruits and 'high carb' veggies, including juices? Fruits like bananas, and Veggies like lima beans, carrots, peas and squash????? And these are easy to cook and eat, and to digest (at least for me). I do see the Candida elimination diet in stages -- I don't get it?? How do you get enough calories? I need ~1.5 to 2 K/day. Some websites even suggest minimize 'yogurt' -- is that right? But SCD doesn't say that -- may be because ours is fully fermented yogurt with tons of probiotics. 3. Will S. boulardii help? LIFE SUCKS. I am sorry, I am pissed at the hand we're dealt with. -Andy.

Guest guest
Andy,S. boulardii will help, but with all anti-fungal remedies, you will have die-off and increased symptoms for a while--especially if you go too quickly. Sanjay just wroked up to 3 capsules of s. boulardii twice a day and his face started to get worse. I think he is going to go back down to 2 twice a day so that the symptoms aren't so much.Hang in there, it will get better eventually. In the meantime oil of oregano works topically as well as internally. Guest guest
Andy It sounds like a yeast/candida overgrowth. They can form rhizoid structures that show up in stools; haven't come across a mention of them showing up in urine but it wouldn't surprise me. The skin rash and location also sounds like candida. Remember that if your gut ecology is out of balance, your digestion isn't working normally, and your immune system is overwhelmed, the opportunistic candida will get out of control. Sticking to SCD foods over the long term will help with this problem. However, if you want to move the candida elimination process faster, you can take natural or prescription antifungals. The prescription antifungals, like Diflucan, are stressful on the body, so shouldn't be taken over the long-term. Nystatin is an easier-on-the-body prescription antifungal, if your doctor will consider it. OoO is a good natural antifungal, but it helps to alternate between 2 or 3 types. You don't necessarily have to eliminate the yeast trigger foods like fruit and fruit juices, just cut back on the amounts and pick the least-sweet varieties that you can find. Same with the other trigger foods -- cut back on the amount and frequency, especially if they are foods your digestion can't completely breakdown. You want to eliminate fermentation along intestinal tract in order to starve out the candida. Eat as much of the low-carb veggies your body will tolerate, as well as plenty of protein from fish, meats and eggs. Also stay hydrated. You also need to take probiotics regularly in order to replace dying yeast or help force them out. If your digestion isn't tolerating yogurt yet, then use a legal L. Acidophilus or S. Boulardii supplement. And over time your gut ecology will be restored, your immune system will be able to handle the toxins, and your digestion should improve. Takes time and patience. But it will come. Kim M. SCD 6 years >>>>>>>>>>>> also started having prostatitis soon after I started SCD, and there are theories that Candida may be one of the causes of prostatitis. I see the following: sometimes my stool is slightly white on the outside, and there are few white strands floating around (that doesn't quite look like mucus). Also there are few strands floating around when I pass my urine. Do these sound like yeast problems?I am not sure my MD will buy this.I did take a look at your file on yeast: Regarding food, I don't take honey. Guest guest
I would like to know which is the product that is being used instead of googling and not knowing what and where. How much is the dosage for an adult? How often does it get taken? Does it have to be monitored with blood tests? Etc.... All my tests came back negative including for parasites. But I am dealing with thrush and candida in the esophagus mostly which sometimes effects my bowel movements. I have been doing very well on the scd diet, but I am not getting anywhere to a comfort zone with my thrush. So any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, > yeast! yuck, we have been fighting it too so badly. I am new to this board, but a lurker...a regular poster on the pecanbread group for kids. i have wondered also why so many of us are fighting yeast. one thing i discovered is that iodine defidiency can contribute to yeast/bacterial overgrowth and toxicity in general. i have started giving my SCD kids therapeutic doses of iodine (google iodine loading) and have seen absolutely fantastic results. How much is a therapeutic adult dose considered to be? What kind of supplement does it come inWhat kind of anti-yeast results have you seen with increased iodine?Does this also effect the performance of the thyroid? > iodine is more than just an anti-fungal/anti-bacterial. it resides in yoru thyroid and all ofy our blood passest hrough your thyroid every 17 minutes, killing off yucky buggers and also cleansing your blood from heavy metals. most americans, they say now, are severely deficient due to florine and bromine in our diets which compete with iodine for a place in our bodies (and are also toxic). I was looking up iodine the other day - and apparently there is quite a bitin eggs - and given how egg reliant SCDers are, that's one sure fire way,at least, that we are getting iodine. Between the cakes and the souffle bread and the hollandaise sauces, notto mention eggs...Mara

Guest guest
> yeast! yuck, we have been fighting it too so badly. What kind of supplement does it come in What kind of anti-yeast results have you seen with increased iodine? Does this also effect the performance of the thyroid? > iodine is more than just an anti-fungal/anti-bacterial. it resides in yoru thyroid and all ofy our blood passest hrough your thyroid every 17 minutes, killing off yucky buggers and also cleansing your blood from heavy metals. most americans, they say now, are severely deficient due to florine and bromine in our diets which compete with iodine for a place in our bodies (and are also toxic). I was looking up iodine the other day - and apparently there is quite a bit in eggs - and given how egg reliant SCDers are, that's one sure fire way, at least, that we are getting iodine. Between the cakes and the souffle bread and the hollandaise sauces, not to mention eggs... Mara
