Guest guest
Alyssa,If you want to try it with butter, which sounds really interesting by the way, you should do it with ghee (clarified butter) so that you have a pure oil.AmeliaTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Mon, February 1, 2010 7:37:32 PMSubject: Re: mayonnaise Yeah, that's why I was wondering. Actually, I have a Caesar salad dressing recipe which involves butter, and I found I liked extra butter, melted. I might go with grapeseed oil and melted butter, about half & half. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

Guest guest
I recently tried walnut oil as I thought I had read someone on this list used it. It was very flavorful with a trace of a smoky flavor. I know walnut oil is very healthy. I have used EVOO and liked it. Terry

Guest guest
Walnut oil--love homemade mayo with that. I have also used light extra virgin olive oil and half safflower oil which was good--if I use all safflower, I get nauseas. Debbie 40 cd Walnut is really good though. > I recently tried walnut oil as I thought I had read someone on this list > used it. It was very flavorful with a trace of a smoky flavor. Guest guest
Hi Amber, I, too, have made mayonnaise with olive oil. Hate it. The olive oil is too strong a flavor. Use a different oil that has no taste. I would try grapeseed oil. I've often used it in making my own dressings. Its flavor is neutral. But there are also other oils like cold pressed safflower or sunflower oil. Darlene > > I've tried to make mayonnaise a few times with extra virgin olive oil.
