I have a friend going to a nutritionist that said remove ALL scents because they affect the adrenal glands and people don't realize how stressed our adrenals are because of all the scents and chemicals. Just a thought.... I attended a stress seminar ... I was told that when you even think about a stressful moment that happened in the past or verbalize it, your body produces enough stress chemicals to keep you 'attack ready' ... You also stress your adrenal glands if done constantly and that affects your other hormones and body systems robbing it of nutrients,

vitamins and minerals keeping it from working properly. .AmeliaHusband UC 9 years, SCD 20 monthsLDN 3 mg

Debbie,Funnily enough, I think I have adrenal problems right now ; ) Seriously, though, I usually just do a mental redirect. My former neighbour had depression and one of her therapy seminars discussed recognizing black thoughts and how to redirect one's thinking to happier memories or ideas to stop the decline into the attack. I generally try to listen to music that is uplifting in message and sound to keep me less stressed. It gives me a happy attitude which in turn helps me feel grateful, which helps me relax. Other than that I try to get plenty of exercise by keeping up with 3 growing boys! I get plenty of upper body exercise (usually cooking and chopping/prepping food), weight lifting (lots of laundry with 3 boys--full laundry baskets are heavy!), and

stairmaster (except mine are wooden, and only work when going up!)Sorry, just needed some comic relief.....Amelia To: BTVC-SCD Sent: Fri, February 26, 2010 12:18:33 PMSubject: Re: Re: bee propolis, salt wtih iodide, birth control pills

That's an interesting post. Do you practice meditation or how do you prevent stressful thoughts/memories? feel free to email me off-list.

Hi Kat,

I appreciate your chiming in! I found out I'm only " slightly " anemic (not sure

of the numbers), but I'm hoping that's the reason I've lost my period and it can

be corrected. Glad you got yours back, and I hope mine makes an appearance on of

these days. :)

Amber

when I was losing blood and then I didn't have one one month. Got a blood

transfusion a week or so later and then the next day got the period - it was

waiting for me to have enough blood! Docs told me it was normal to miss periods

when anemic.

Hi Amelia,

I was thinking there might be something else going on. I had my thyroid tested,

but I don't know if it was the proper testing. And I'm a little confused about

the adrenal testing, because from what I've read about it, most doctors don't

test for adrenal fatigue- is that right? So if I had it tested somewhere online,

then if the tests come back as my having adrenal fatigue, what would I do?

Also, I'm curious, if a person does have adrenal fatigue, does exercising make

it worse?

You're right though, I really don't want to get pregnant now while I'm still

flaring and sick. I can barely take care of myself right now, so adding a baby

into the mix right now doesn't seem feasible. I will have to learn to be

patient, which I'm not very good at!

Thanks for your input,

Amber

on Father's Day), and my third son was born shortly after my 37th birthday

(that's what I get for joking about being able to handle a 3rd better than my

husband could!). I had never been pregnant before the first one and have only

ever been pregnant the 3 times. I had been on the pill for at least 10 years,

and had some 'female' trouble that convinced me it would be difficult to

conceive. My husband also had reason to believe he wouldn't be capable of

fathering children.

biological clock may be winding down. I'm 31 and I know that by the time a women

reaches 35 the risks increase for the baby, so I kind of feel pressured a

little. Hopefully things straighten out within the next 6 months, if not, I

don't know. But you're all right, it's probably best to let my body heal on its

own first. Plus I'm on meds, and perhaps they are having an effect on my cycle.

Sigh...to be healthy again. Hopefully I'll get there.

Amber,Doctors don't usually test for adrenal fatigue, that is correct. Someone posted a link earlier to help find doctors who practice 'functional' or 'integrative/integrated' medicine (not to be confused with Internal Medicine). They will look at the whole body and how it functions together, which is how it should be. The book 'Stop the Thyroid Madness' has lots of good info regarding adrenal fatigue as well as mentioning other books on the subject. It also gives info on where to get testing done and how to interpret it.Yes, exercising can make it worse in a way. What usually happens is that if you have a busy day or exercise it really wipes out your energy and it can take a day or more to recover and feel normal again. Absolutely, the last thing

you need is lack of sleep from a newborn on top of a flare! You want to be able to enjoy the baby.AmeliaTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Sun, February 28, 2010 7:29:44 PMSubject: Re: bee propolis, salt wtih iodide, birth control pills

Hi Amber

http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/

Here is the test you need for adrenals

http://www.canaryclub.org/diurnal-cortisol-4x-zrt.html

I see you are anemic. Which means you would have low ferritin. Your thyroid would not have a chance of working properly with low ferritin

http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ferritin/

Have you got the results of your thyroid test?
