Guest guest
I know this doesn't pertain specifically to SCD, but for anyone who does green smoothies: how do you rotate your greens? I know your supposed to rotate according to family, but I can't find a good list of the different green families. Also, it's hard to find greens that are as yummy as spinach, chard, and beet greens, and whaddya know, they're all in the same family!! I've been trying to reduce my toxic load, so I want to try to rotate my greens more. Any tips? Peace =) Alyssa 15 yo UC April 2008, dx Sept 2008 SCD June 2009 (restarted) Chinese Herbs (not legal but helping!)

Guest guest
Why do you have to rotate the greens? Each green family has a tiny amount of a toxin in the greens, (like oxalates for spinach, and the ones that cause thyroid issues for kale) so you're supposed to rotate so you don't build up a bunch of the same toxin. Here's a website on why you should rotate: http://greensmoothiesblog.com/green-smoothie-rotate/ Peace =)Alyssa 15 yoUC April 2008, dx Sept 2008SCD June 2009 (restarted)Chinese Herbs (not legal but helping!) Guest guest
I would just use one this time, another one next time. Yeah, they aren't in different families, but they do have some differences, after all. I gave up on trying to rotate foods decades ago, because I simply haven't ever had enough to do it with. I really meant greens like kale, chard, spinach, beet greens, dandelion greens, collards, etc...Not just green food =)

Why do you rotate? There's a lot of info on green smoothies online, but basically its just a fruit smoothie with leafy greens (spinach, kale, etc...) blended in. Guest guest
I've been checking out one of my mother's books called " Eating Away Arthritis " by Lauri M. Aesoph, N.D. and it goes into detail about food rotation and families, etc. It covers all the legal foods (from what I can tell) and only a few illegals. Whole foods--doesn't go into processed, pre-packaged, fast food. Interesting if you are not at all familiar with food combining. I noticed my worst triggers come from the grass family lol. I don't think any are legal. FYI, FWIW Debbie houston cd > >> Maybe this site could help: >> >> http://www.drkatherine.info/environmental_medicine/Food_Food_Families.htm > > > Thanks Holly!!! > > Peace =) > Alyssa 15 yo > UC April 2008, dx Sept 2008 > SCD June 2009 (restarted) > Chinese Herbs (not legal but helping!) > > > >
