Guest guest
Dear , it sounds like you found a pretty good doctor. I agree that the scope is not the way to go. So many people feel it makes it worse. It also sounds like I'll be there next week. Its very hard to live like this but we have to. There are several people on the machines and it does seem to help alot. I thought a long time ago I'd hve to have a stent but like you I know nothing about them. There used to be a couple people who had them but havn't been on the boards lately. Yoiu take care of you. Sue Marth

Guest guest
Hi Cathy. I was talking about the C-pap and/or Bi-pap machines. I know that some of the group use the bi-pap at night to force air into the lungs. Hope your Dad gets some relief. Take Care Hugs and smiles, L. :>)

Guest guest
What kind of machine are you discussing. That is my Dad's biggest problem. He is having more and more trouble breathing. And I still have to wait until the 18th to see a doc. Cathy Re: airway collapse Dear , it sounds like you found a pretty good doctor. I agree that the scope is not the way to go. Guest guest
Angie, How does a machine like this work. I know it forces air in, but do you just have a mask, mouthpiece...how does it work mechanically. I have this appointment for Dad and I would like to understand as much as possible before I walk in there. Thanks, Cathy Re: airway collapse L I have a cpap machine what do you want to know? my trachea is callapsing, and they talked about a stent and a trach tube with me but I bought time with the use of the cpap. They need to see what to set the air pressure at for you... Mine has been changed 2 times already and I have an appt next week to see if it is still right... Mine is set at 12 right now... I also have a humidifier for mine... It doesn't dry out your mouth and throat so bad. I only wear mine when I sleep... Hope this makes sense and helps some...If not.... I have this appointment for Dad and I would like to understand as much as possible before I walk in there. Thanks, Cathy Cathy I have a mask that just covers my nose, I also have nasal pillows that I use when I am not intending to sleep since I wear glasses. The pillows are two little flexible things that fit your nostrils and the air flows in them and keeps the airway open. The air pressure is determined by the doctor and the patient. I did not have to have a sleep study done before I got my machine but lot of people do, It is non invasive and worth a try before anything drastic is done. love, hugs and hope Angie
