Hi Moe, yes I have that too. Some days just seem worse and if I can feel it I do take a Zantac which seems to help if it is acid reflux. I always have problems with throat but not necessarily stomach. When I belch it seems to come from my chest and not my stomach. Go figure....Hey I got another perm the other day so I'm again....Curly

I would like to ask you and everyone something. I noticed in your post that

you said you use your neubulizer always after meals.

Do you and/or everyone seem to have more trouble breathing after eating? I

always do no matter how much or little I eat.

My Rheumy says she thinks it's reflux, even though I don't feel it.

Do you or anyone else have this problem?

I do. Jerry actually noticed it. I can't walk anywhere or even climb the stairs without getting winded. I never brought this up to my doctors.

love, hugs and hope

Angie

Hi and Everyone :-)

I just had to post to this one :-) Yes!! I have trouble with

eating.....not with the breathing, but COUGHING my fool head off!

When I first got sick I coughed every single time I ate....especially

the first bite, then it would settled down, sort of. I can't believe

I haven't choked to death. There were also other triggers...yawning,

talking, bending down to pick something up, and others...all these

things would get me coughing.

The thing that turned it around for me was not so much the Minocin,

but the Zithromax. The Minocin took care of lots of things....aches,

pains..etc but it took the Zithromax to have any impact on my cough.

Sure enough, when I quit taking it after a year and a half, the cough

slowly came back. That's when I called Dr. Franco and he had me add

Biaxin to the regular doses of Minocin. The cough is much better,

but it has taken all this time. Now, I don't think I make it through

a whole day without coughing, but almost. When I first got sick I

know I coughed 50 times a day...at least, that's when I lost count!

The other myositis people I talk to don't have an especially hard

time with eating and coughing, but two of my scleroderma friends have

this symptom. The doctors don't really know where to attach

the " blame " whether it's dermatomyosits (weak muscles, including the

swallowing kind) or RP, which isn't a for sure diagnosis with me.

Another thing I notice is when I eat some foods, including chocolate

chip cookies, but don't tell :-) I cough more....some foods

really cause a lot of mucous to form (sorry it's a gross, yucky and

awful subject!!)

Does anyone else cough with eating?

Thanks for your answers....I'm still here, just quiet most of the

time:-) but feeling really good.

Take care everyone,

Connie H.

Hi :-)

okay....I confess...I do eat a few goodies every now and then. It

really isn't good for us though...the sugar really helps those yeast

or candida get out of hand and whether someone is on prednisone or

antibiotics, yeast is a potential problem. It can even make the

antibiotics much less effective so you and I could lose all the

ground we've gained.....not worth it (unless we need to digress every

once in a while :-)

Good to hear that you're still doing well on the Biaxin, yippee! The

Herxheimer reaction could last anywhere from one month (most common,

I think) to several months. I remember hearing stories of Herx's

lasting 6 months, but I don't know if that's accurate. It's also

common for it to come and go, too.

All is well over here, thanks for asking :-) Thanks for sharing your

trip to OK with all of us who couldn't go....it sure sounds like you

had a wonderful time!

Take care and lots of hugs,

Connie H

Moe and Curly. I'm having problems with that too! ENT said problem with my

voice was from Acid Reflux (which I didn't know I had). He put me on

Prilosec, which fixed the prob with my voice. But my ulcers went on the

warpath! I was doubled over in pain and thought my ulcers must have

perforated, so the Gastroenterologist put me back on my Zantac 300 mg twice a

day and voila, both my voice and my stomach are back to normal...thank God!

I was miserable! I feel like as each thing " breaks " , they fix it and then

something else goes! Sometimes I feel like I just can't win! But I'll be

damned if I'll give up! Hang in there! Love, Judy
