Everything makes me feel bloated [grin].

Did you dilute the apple cider or any other fruit juices? It is important to

dilute juices, especially during the first year on SCD, when you are still

dealing with a compromised digestion. Juices have a lot of sugars and fiber.

Also, check labels on the bottles for hidden illegals that might also cause a

similar reaction.

Yes, we dilute 50%. I get the cider from our local farmer and they claim there

is no added sugars. :) The orange juice is the original Tropicana with no added

calcium.

Do we keep drinking these things despite the bloating? Is it just our digestion

relearning how to digest these sugars? Are these sugars feeding the

yeast/bacteria?

We also juice our own fruits. This causes some minimal bloating as well. My

husband, moreso. :( I LOVE juicing!! Help!

I dilute juices by 500% [grin]. That is what works best for my upper GI and

immune system, even today after healing. But then I have a dysfunctional upper

GI so management is my goal, not cure. Still, my upper GI tolerates only very

diluted juices.

If you're experiencing significant bloating, then definitely try diluting the

juices more and see if that helps. Or your digestion may not be ready for apple

cider but would prefer apple juice (homemade). I haven't tried cider in five

years, but I did try a diluted glassful in my first year on SCD and had

significant upper GI reactions, so I haven't tried it since.

Remember that our bodies still have to digest the biochemicals in juices, even

diluted. In the beginning of SCD, depending on the state of your digestion,

this may be difficult. Things should improve the longer you're on SCD.

In terms of dealing with yeast, when I was in my drastic elimination phase I

only had diluted fruit juice every other day. But my candida levels seemed to

respond rapidly to fruits, based on my symptoms. Once I was through the worst

of the yeast elimination I could advance to one serving of fruit juice or

applesauce per day. I'm still at that level, because of my insulin resistance,

but that's OK.

Funny thing is that my body doesn't like Tropicana orange juice. I usually make

my own juices, but in the past few years I occasionally buy a container of

Florida Naturals orange juice. I last tried Tropicana (plain, no calcium, no

fiber) a year ago when there wasn't any other orange juice available at the

store that particular day and the oranges weren't in good shape. The labels

look right on the Tropicana, but there's something that upsets my upper GI. You

could try a different brand or make your own.
