It depends on the person.  I don't think so generally speaking.

In the beginning (or mid '06 because I started SCD 12/05 so six months after I started) I wanted grapes really bad--one of the worst things for me.  I peeled them while I watched TV and ate them.  Didn't have a food mill.  Just a few at a time.  I didn't even want to try blueberries.  Now I can eat blueberries without any ill effects.  I still have problems with older, tougher husk type of beans, berries so I use a foodmill.  I had chronic d.

For normal people or however you phrase it, it's supposed to be a great food, full of antioxidants.  My mom eats a bowl of frozen blueberries with the yogurt every single night and says she feels better with the yogurt.  So...not sure if that helps.

I only eat baby lima beans or azuki beans (very very advanced but high

in iron). I have to be very careful with regular beans. Younger

vegetables/beans seem to work a lot better for me. For instance

summer squash doesn't bother me but winter squashes kill my guts.

If it does have a husk, a foodmill is great. It's just scratchy and

irritating (the husks) and since I'm always anemic, I try to avoid

those types of foods.

It depends. The recommendation in the early part of the diet is to

prepare all fruit (except ripe bananas and ripe avocado) cooked and to

peel it.

Peeling berries is somewhat problematical. Some people find that just

cooking them is acceptable. SOme people find it necessary to put them

through a food mill to remove as many skins and seeds as

possible.
