Guest guest
Hi: I just got back on the mail list and now I remember why I got on no mail status. Many people have become friends in the group and I think that is great but is there anyway that we could have personal chit chat mailed directly between friends. As you all know we receive all large number of posts and most of them are notes back in forth to friends and the rest of us don't know what is being discussed and I just don't have time to read each one to find out which ones relate to RP and which ones are personal notes really appropriate and intended for one or two people. When I first joined this group the RP posts related to RP, the symptoms and support for all group members. Personal inquires and chit chat that didn't pertain to the group as a whole was sent by us to each other directly. I'm not saying that the Chit Chat is not important and supportive but it is only to the people who are involved. I wonder if any other members feel that we should have the group posts focus on RP so the new members can get information and support. I feel like I am reading other peoples mail and have only seen a small percentage of posts that actually focus on RP. If I am out of line please let me know, if I am not out of line, please send personal posts directly to the person who you are corresponding with. Respectfully submitted, Donna CA

Guest guest
Dear Donna, I agree with you on how many emails we get in a day. There are people who email each person individually who could compress into one email, instead you get 10 or 15. We need to feel close to each other for support but we need to think of the sick people who can't handle 100+ emails a day. That is why we are losing some I think. Sometimes its just too overwhelming with everything else we have going on. Take Care....Sue

Guest guest
Hi Donna :-) I totally understand your concerns.....yes, this is an awesome group of people....probably one of the best! .....but, the number of posts is overwhelming for many of us. I do understand that there is a need and a healing aspect for many to keep in close contact with each other. I also understand that we all will have questions/comments from time to time and probably do not want to be in an " only chat " group or an " only info " group. Here's what is working for me....I went on a " No Mail " status. By being on 'no mail' I am still a member of the group (OK, I'm a member of several groups :-) but the difference is that I frequently go to the website to check the messages. I can pick and choose which ones to 'click on' and my mailbox is no longer getting stuffed full to the gills. I can still post to the group when I have a question, too. The website for messages for this group is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Rpolychondritis/messages and the website where you can access all of your groups, change your status to " no mail " and other things.....is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Rpolychondritis I think that this might be helpful for lots of people. I have noticed in just the last few days that the membership of this group has gone down by maybe 10 or more people. Maybe some of them could handle the 'no mail....will check the website' method. Take care, I hope this helps, Connie H > Hi: > > I just got back on the mail list and now I remember why I got on no mail > status. > Many people have become friends in the group and I think that is great but is > there anyway that we could have personal chit chat mailed directly between > friends. Guest guest
Oh....that's good to hear, :-) I was afraid that people were unsubscribing like crazy. It's good to clean out one's files, whether they are the paper kind or the electronic kind, every now and then.....in fact, I was just upstairs cleaning out tons of stacks of papers myself. One thing I really like about the set-up of these yahoogroups is that we can search through the archives of previous messages....by just typing in a key word, like hormone, or stomach, or anything that we might have discussed.....and that I need to see again. That way, I don't print out nearly as many messages as I used to...and my paper stacks will like that! Thanks for everything you do!! Hugs, Connie > In a message dated 9/24/01 9:23:46 AM Pacific Daylight Time, > jhache@e... writes: > > > Connie this is my doing... the membership count going down...
