Guest guest
I have a lot of 400 mg Asacol in search of a home (hundreds of pills). I was on a 12 per day and got switched to 6mp so have a lot left over. It's the solid red pill not a capsule so nothing could be fiddled with. I think I'd feel funny about sending to an individual in case they blamed me for any reason. Is there a humanitarian organization that anyone knows of? I sure don't want to throw them away. Thanks BTW my modified SCDiet is working wonderfully. I cannot eat fruit or have fruit juices or SCD yogurt but am soooo much improved. I also just discovered that nuts are much better for me after soaking and drying. This is my second attempt on the diet. I tried it 5 years ago with no success. This time I paid 100% attention to what foods were reacting with my gut and even if they were SCD legal removed the offenders.

Guest guest
Not sure of any humanitarian places you can donate to, but it's ironic that i'm in need of Asacol right now. I'm between jobs and have no insurance. One bottle is $350.00 without coverage, way beyond what I can afford.I completely understand not wanting to send them to an individual, so if you're not comfortable with the idea that's perfectly ok. If you change your mind, i'd definitely be interested. Guest guest
Ditto! I even had all of this leftover methotrexate this summer (I would never recommend those injections, by the way... they are what led me to SCD!!!). Nobody would take the darn stuff- it's toxic for gosh sakes. Luckily the guy where I get my labs done was willing to harbor it for me. -Joanna SCD 2009, Crohn's 1992, 30mg Prednisone > > > > I have a lot of 400 mg Asacol in search of a home (hundreds of pills). Guest guest
I think actually it's illegal to give a prescription drug to someone else. But after my brother died (cancer) there were a lot of drugs leftover and my SIL donated them to a clinic for the poor, who were thrilled to get them. Or possibly one of these organizations where the medical people volunteer their time abroad? I would think something like this would be glad to have them. Guest guest
All,I know it is a waste, but if you find no way to donate, you need to take them back to the pharmacy for disposal. Just throwing them away or flushing them causes all that medication to find it's way back into our food (seafood if flushed and in ground water if in the rubbish/landfill). This is a huge problem, so PLEASE take it to a pharmacy for disposal.AmeliaTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Sat, March 13, 2010 9:42:37 PMSubject: Re: where to donate Asacol I know what you mean! Guest guest
I had some medication I was not using, so I gave it back to the doctor who prescribed it. Apparently Medicare did not cover it, so she new some elderly people on a fixed income that she could give it to. It was sealed in individual doses, so there was no way it could have been tampered with though. We also have a free clinic and pharmacy here that take medications, but I don't know about what they would do with meds in an open container. Guest guest
Hi, Amelia. It would be nice if, along with the side effects of the meds., the label for the meds. also would state where meds. should be disposed. It would also be of benefit and importance for doctors and pharmacists to educate patients on proper disposal. Thanks. Guest guest
Many of the cancer mom's boxed up lots of leftover meds and medical supplies and sent them to Haiti. I know others that have donated to charitable public health organizations in their city. They were always grateful for everything and told us to ignore the expiration dates and bring them in anyway. The CVS chain does. I have a bag full of stuff right now ready to bring over to them: some expired and unused pills of various types and a handful of needles from giving myself B-12 shots.Reiterating what Amerlia said: DEFINITELY do not flush drugs down the toilet. Residual amounts -- but enough to have ill-effects -- end up in our drinking water.n > ________________________________> > To: BTVC-SCD > Sent: Sun, March 14, 2010 4:39:31 PM> Subject: Re: Re: where to donate Asacol>>Hi, Amelia.>It would be nice if, along with the side effects of the meds., the label > for the meds. also would state where meds. should be disposed.
