A eco-disaster brought to you by drug manufacturers:

<snip>Federal scientists testing for

pharmaceuticals in water have been finding significantly more medicine residues

in sewage downstream from public treatment facilities that handle waste from

drugmakers.

A

number of drug stores/pharmacies in the U.S. will take unusued medication (and

used syringes/hypodermic needles) and dispose of them for a person. The CVS

chain does. I have a bag full of stuff right now ready to bring over to them:

some expired and unused pills of various types and a handful of needles from

giving myself B-12 shots.

Reiterating

what Amerlia said: DEFINITELY do not flush drugs down the toilet. Residual

amounts -- but enough to have ill-effects -- end up in our drinking water.
