Hello, Margaret,

I was checking my e-mail during breakfast (before I go off to work), and

your e-mail caught my eye.

My name is and I've had RP for about 9 years now....I'm also an OT

and would like to answer your OT questions if I can (although hand

therapy is not my specialty area). When you have a chance, could you

e-mail me some information re: your OT hand evaluation . For example,

what is your left/right hand grip and finger strength? You mentioned that

your strength is " low. " How low? Did your OT give you any numbers in

pounds? Any problems with fine motor coordination or picking up items?

Any problems with hand or finger sensation out of the ordinary? Do you

have any pain or discomfort while using your hands, or, even while

resting?

Margaret, if it's too uncomfortable to be typing, feel free to call me.

If you like, you e-mail me at kagor@..., I will give you home phone

number, or, I could call you. I'm not working this Thursday/Friday and

plan to be at home.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Take care!

Aloha,

P.S. RE: Chiqong...did you know that it's possible to do chiqong while

in a sitting position? Perhaps that might help with some of the

vertigo!

Subject: hair loss and occ. therapy????s and qigong

I also have a question about occupational therapy...I had written that

my

strength was down, pretty low, and my OT is really worried about what she

should and should not do with me--becuase of contraindications...not only

for the prednisone, but also the RP--does anyone know if therapy helps,

or is there just no point? I get exhausted doing just about

anything...even pinching clothes pins!! and I get flushed and start

sweating...Does anyone know if exercise like this is bad? My OT told me

that she didn't know if we could rebuild my strength, but she didn't want

me to deteriorate anymore.

Anyway, things are going ok. I am tired, and the vertigo is really

bad--for those of you doing Qigong, have you been able to do the

dissolving energy meditation standing up? I can't. I get too dizzy and am

unable to finish. It is very frustrating...do I just live with the

vertigo or is there something I can do?

Well, I hope everyone else is doing good. Take care.

Margaret
