Guest guest
Dear Ann, Yes, I have the same trouble. One time it's too high and the next time too low. I'm been on synthroid for about 10 years and it's been that way ever since I started on the medication. Think I feel better when I am on the high side than if it's too low. At least I have more energy and my muscles don't hurt as much. Have heard there are others in the group with thyroid problems. Take care. Guest guest
Ann, Have you changed the type of synthroid you have been using for the past several years--(ex. is the pharmacy filling your prescription with a generic brand and now they have a NEW generic brand they are filling it with?) Through the years, I have had a couple of patients that this has happened to and it took us a while to be able to track it to that. I have had other patients who have had good levels for years and then all of the sudden they go crazy and it was because there has been some sort of a change--not related to the synthroid that has caused it. Have you been put on any new medications or had dose changes in any of your current medications? If not, it may just be that you need to have your synthroid increased (or decreased)--adjusted to get you back in a theraputic range. Many women find that that happens. They can be on the same dose for years and then for whatever reason it needs to be adjusted. (I had a Dr. tell me one time that it is an age thing, but far be it from me to suggest that!!). Guest guest
Marilyn, I think we did a survey a while ago regarding those of us with thyroid problems and there were quite a few. If you want to ask again, just add me to your list, I have hypo, and I've been on Synthroid since 1974 (a long time) and I haven't had any major problems, usually my T3 level stays the same, but 0ccasionally, it's been known to drop. I have it checked annually. As I recall there was a good percentage of us with problems. Love, Judy Re: Thyroid Level Dear Ann,Yes, I have the same trouble. Guest guest
Kathi, I still use the same pharmacist. No I don't use generics. I know that will throw it off. The only thing new is the prednisone but it started going crazy before that. My PCP has been rechecking it every 4-6 weeks. I have gone from higher dose to lower now back up to a higher one. I think I have about 4 different strengths. At least next time he checks it I shouldn't have to by a new prescription right away. I just thought it was odd. Not having any trouble with it for years and all of a sudden it goes whacky. Thanks, Ann Thyroid Level >Date: Fri, 12 Oct 2001 09:26:48 -0700 > >Does anyone with a thyroid disorder have trouble keeping their thyroid >level >steady.
