Guest guest
Well I went back to my gyn for the results of all my test... Everything was fine except my estrogen was still not there. LOL He went back and looked at all his patients who continue to have low estrogen levels and they are all taking some kind of stomach med (tagament, prilosec, prevacid, pepcid, etc). He made some calls and found out the the stomach meds interfer with the absorbtion of estrogen.. You need stomach acid to get the estrogen into your system... Even though I took my stomach meds in the morning and my estrogen at night. So he put me on the patch. Said the other thing would to get monthly injections. I opted for the patch.. But it made me nauseated almost immediately. Have been all day... Better tonight... hopefully by tomorrow my body will adjust and I will be okay. Has anyone had this experience with the patch? Guess it shocked my body to get some estrogen into it. LOL Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.. hugs

Guest guest
Hi , Yes, I used the patch for about 4 years, then went back to Premarin in the pill form. Still on it, but a low dose. The patch worked OK. Did notice that at times I didn't seem to get enough estrogen from it. Think as it wears off the symptoms would come back. Hope this makes sense to you. It's kind of hard to explain. Maybe by now they have improved the patch to where you get a consistent level of the medication. I always seemed to get good relief on the days that I put a new patch on, then as it began to wear out, I would get to feeling kind of yucky. Love, Marilyn K. Guest guest
Hi ! I have been on the " patch " for thirteen years. At first I had to take progesterone in pill form along with. They now combine them together. I use " CombiPatch " but I am weaning off, just one a week now that I am 63. I never remember any side effects!! I know for quite a long time the hot flashes would return as soon as I tried to quit. I think I am over the hump finally. We all take so many Rx's, the patch seems like a better alternative to swallowing another pill or two. I am going off mail for the next two weeks as we will be traveling. Talk again when I return.
