Guest guest
I totally understand your frustration and worry about if your son will ever talk. My son is four, with PDD NOS and Apraxia, he has come a long way with speech therapy and his receptive language is right on, but his expressive is very far behind, only a few spontaneous words at this point, although when he is working with his therapists with the Kaufamn cards he says many more words. I worry too, will my son every talk, but chances are he will, he has great imitation skills, he is social, he is making verbal attempts, he is good with PECS. I was just reading something the other day that said sometimes Apraxic kids dont talk until 5 or later, I guess it just depends when the connection in their brains is made, I know many others have shared that their children spoke late too, try not to worry, easier said than done, but you are working with your son now and that is what matters. E mail me if you have any other questions. Jen **************Start the year off right. Guest guest
I think it must be true because my son is approximating like a 1 1/2- 2yo now after 2 years of ST! He said at therapy yesterday with a new intern no less " Dummies ay dood! No ee dirh! " He was trying to say " Gummies taste good. Don't eat dirt! We're working on the " h " sound which apparently isn't supposed to be hard for children but with apraxia and dysarthria and hypotonia in his tongue is very hard for my son. He can huff his breath in my hand and he can say " ay " but try as he might he cannot say " hay " . My son is 4 years 7 months. > > I totally understand your frustration and worry about if your son will ever > talk. Guest guest
Any ear history, nasal issues? We had back of the throat stuff. I think my son could do H prior to milk loss but it stuck after and before milk loss we had been cutting back. We still have stuff with his throat. Whether that will leave I don't know. I don't know if it is a fluoride thing that will never leave, unaddressed allergin or some other mystery thing. We shall see. He can say gs now though so I am choosing to believe we can beat this. My hope is oral motor exercises, the rest of TLP, myomuchee, NACD and my continuous allergy research along with metals testing will give us a clue. > > > > I totally understand your frustration and worry about if your son > will ever > > talk.
