Guest guest
Hi Rita, Have you had your potassium checked lately? If not, do so. That can cause severe leg cramps. I had them terribly and had mine checked and was low. I am now on meds (probably for the rest of my life) for this. As for the dizziness, not sure. Could be the RP or .......you need to see an ENT immediately!!! Good luck and let us know what your docs say. BTW-I did get the Flexeril, 10 mgs and broke them in half. I take 5 just about daily now and it does help without the drowsiness. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> .. I AM ALSO HAVING SEVERE LEG CRAMPS, DOOTHERS ON THIS SITE HAVE THESE CRAMPS. ANOTHERSYMPTOM THAT HAS ALL OF A SUDDEN SHOWN UP IS DIZZINESS(SUDDEN FEELINGS AS IF THE ROOM IS TURNING UPSIDEDOWN). Guest guest
Hi Rita, I have also had problems with Dizziness. Mine is not a room-spinning type of dizziness though. The dizziness I feel is completely in me-- I KNOW THAT SOUNDS STRANGE, but that is the only way I know to describe it. Mine comes and goes but sometimes it is so severe that I can't drive. Before I was DX. and put on Meds. I would get brief (2-3 seconds) episodes of this but it was really not a big deal. The time it got real severe was about 3 weeks after I started Methotrexate, so I am not convinced that that isn't what caused it to be so severe. After a couple of weeks, it cleared up and now I am back to the brief episodes that I was used to. Guest guest
Sandy, I saw the same ENT who follows me for all of my hoarsness and tracheal problems. He said that he could do vestibular studies but he didn't feel like they would provide us with any good information because I don't have that " room spinning " type of dizziness. He said that my problem is probably occuring due to inflammation BEHIND my ear, in an area that can not be visualized unless you take a person into surgery and look. That wasn't an option for me. Medicines that would typically be given for dizziness (like Antivert) will not be effective for me either-- again, because of the type of dizziness. It is just something that I have had to learn to deal with. I am okay with it unless I get that ongoing dizziness that I had for about 2 weeks in July. That got so bad that I was ready to dig a hole and crawl in. Thank Goodness, it resolved and hasn't come back. Do you have any other thoughts? Thanks, Kathi > >Reply-To: Rpolychondritis >To: <Rpolychondritis > >Subject: Re: Rita >Date: Fri, 7 Sep 2001 15:42:40 -0400 > >Rita & Kathi, >Have you seen an ENT about the dizziness? >I suffer from dizziness and am having a vestibular study done in a few >weeks. > >Sandy > Rita > >Date: Thu, 6 Sep 2001 20:12:06 -0400 > > > >Hi Rita, > >Have you had your potassium checked lately? Guest guest
I also had this, in fact for 10 years. The doctors said it was panic attacks. The first couple times it was just for a few seconds, then it got worse. For me it was like someone tilted the floor which threw off my balance. I was on more antianxiety drugs that I care to think about. Please remember this was in the late 1980's and I wasn't diagnosed yet. Because they looked in the ears and didn't see anything they assumed it was me. Now I would ask for an internal ear exam. Luckily with this group we know a lot more and can tell our doctors. Talk to you soon...Sue Marth
