Guest guest
First of all Happy Birthday Jo. Ok now on to my visits. Saw the ENT yesterday. Ears are still red. Will continue on the Cipro drops for 5 more days then stop & see how it goes. We had a nice talk & he was real interested in the group & what I have learned from it. He has seen 2 cases of this in medical school. I seen him in 2 weeks. After I made the appointment with the other guy that I have been seeing, I got to thinking about it. This guy is new, has seen 2 cases, saw me in the hospital, has been following with my ears, so maybe it might be a good idea if I stay with him. He seems to be very knowlegable about the disease & is very interested in how it is affected me as a person. I like my original ENT but I have a very good repoire with this guy too. My rheumy visit went very well. I told her about the group & Dr. Bruckner's study. She took down her name & I will get info to her as soon as I get it. She has no problem with it. I do't want to step on any toes. We talked about how even though each of us has the disease it affects us in different ways which is what makes it so unique. We have to learn together what makes me tick with the disease. I told her your concerns about taking me down on the pred so fast. She said she likes to see if it can be done quickly which didn't work in my case since they don't like to keep you on it for a long time. My ear had a flare yesterday, actually it has never gone away completely, just felt a little more comfortable. It was red, swollen & had what I call blisters in a couple spots. Feels a little better today. My knees are also acting up. The left one has been for a few weeks & the right one woke me up at 5:15 this morning. There is fluid in the right one. My new drug regimen is pred 60 a day for 2 weeks, 50 for 2 weeks & then 40 unless I flare. She also started me on Didronel 1 in the am for 2 weeks. I have also started back on my Salsalate & I take Flexeril at night for my arthritis which is in my spine and other assorted places. She said eventually I will be able to manage the ups & downs of the pred by myself as I learn how it affects me. I actually went & did some fun shopping today after my visit & Dexascan. Of course the ear is throbbing now so I will take some pain meds & just relax. Thanks for helping me get through this & helping me become informed. Will keep you posted on my progress. Guest guest
Sue, this is Judy O, first I am so glad your dr visits went so well. I feel they are learning right along with us, which is a good thing. As long as you find a dr who is willing to learn about RP, keep 'em! Second, I lost your phone #, please send it to me privately (judyo_@msn) as I asked to be put on no mail for a week. I've been sick in bed all week and this is my first attempt to go on line for my mail. I've been on about a half hour and I'm already getting wipped out, so I doubt I will be on line long. Don't have much of a voice either, and when I try to talk, I start coughing. NOT having fun here! BTW my phone # is (847)885-0947.
