Guest guest
Hi there- I don't have arthritis (though I used to get it with my Crohn's), but I did mysteriously come up with a severe case of plantar faciitis about 4 months into the diet. Sometimes I think our bodies are just working their issues out. Perhaps the arthritis will be helped with SCD, but it will just be the last symptom to go? If your symptoms are calming down, I would totally stick to STD and with time and healing hopefully it will subside! -Joanna SCD 9/2009, Crohn's 1992, 27.5 mg prednisone > > > I have been on SCD for almost 3 months. > Most of my symptoms have calmed down with the exeption of arthritis. > I had blood work done 3 weeks ago and all of my inflammation marker are normal. > Why the arthritis then? > Wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. > > This blog has been so helpful, thank you. >

Guest guest
Arthritis often accompanies bowel disease. I have osteo-arthritis, which I developed a few years ago, probably because of mal-absorption issues due to decades of CD. I make sure to supplement calcium, magnesium and Vitamin D3 regularly and I up my anti-inflammatory supplements if I am in pain. I use Cod Liver Oil and turmeric . There are others I’ve seen mentioned here. I also apply arnica gel to any painful joints – which, right now is limited to my knees. I have very little pain these days due to the OA. And my ankles, which were the worst for pain and inflammation, no longer bother me. There is also rheumatoid arthritis which is also a auto-immune disorder. Perhaps others with RA can chime in here. In conjunction with SCD, Low Dose Naltrexone is used to treat many auto-immune disorders, like bowel disease and RA. If you are interested in it: LDNScience.org or LowDoseNaltrexone.org So glad to hear SCD is relieving some of your symptoms. Carol CD 22 yrs SCD 5 yrs B12 shots LDN cream (9 mo.) Guest guest
Hi Randi, Vitamin D3 is the more absorbable form of Vitamin D, a.k.a. the Sunshine Vitamin. I use Carlson Labs DDrops, 2,000 IU/drop. It’s advisable to get your Vitamin D level tested (blood test) so you know how much to supplement. Guest guest
Hi Carol, I should have been more specific. I am taking cod live oil(green pasture's blue ice cod liver oil). This has vitamin D. Is that the same thing as D3? Thanks, Randi > > Hi Randi, > > Vitamin D3 is the more absorbable form of Vitamin D, a.k.a. the Sunshine > Vitamin. I use Carlson Labs DDrops, 2,000 IU/drop.
