Pam/Bev -- Thanksgiving origin

As the others have explained the American holiday began in

Plymouth with the Pilgrims who had come from Plymouth, England,the

year before. But it probably came from the English custom of

celebrating the harvest. I remember one October when I went to a

Harvest Sunday in Lincoln Cathedral with an English friend. It was

wonderful! The cathedral was packed, there were crops and some farm

machinery up front and the singing was magnificent.
