HI Debbie,

I'm so sorry that happen to you. I had a candle bust in a glass once and it melted and ruin a counter top. So every since then I am very cautious not to use them unless I will be in the room with them and to always cut the wick back before lighting them, this is a must!

Your table can be refinished. Even though I know this doesn't help much right now. Just know that it can.

You were blessed that all of you are okay. Take care and know that your in my thoughts and prayers.

Love,

Lu

> I have had 2 disasters with candles in 2 days. The first I had a 3 wick

on a large glass plate with a ring on my dining room table. The candle had

3 extra wicks and it caught them on fire somehow and the wax melted down the

side in a split. It poured out onto my new tablecloth. My dd found it as

she was walking through and noticed that the flames were too high.

>

> Then tonight the tapers caught the candle ring on fire on the same dining

room table! This time the table was on fire. I am just devastated. The

tabletop is ruined. At least we got the fire out. My smoke detector went

off or the whole room would have been on fire soon.

>

> So, this is my advice to everyone. Don't burn candles in rooms that you

are not in!!! Also, everyone, PLEASE put smoke dectectors in EVERY bedroom,

hallways on all levels, and one on each floor of your home. Here the ad for

the fire department is EVERY FLOOR, EVERY BEDROOM! I have one in my game

room on the basement level, one at the top of the stairs in the foyer on the

first floor (this is the one that went off-it is near the dining room as the

dining room and living room open off the foyer), one at the top of the

stairs to the second story in the hall and one in every bedroom.

>

> If you have smoke dectectors already in these locations, please change

your batteries.

>

> The very SCARY part of all this is that the dectector that went off is the

one that was beeping for 2 days as it needed a new battery. I have no idea

why it needed one as I replace them all Christmas Day every year. But, I

hollered at my dh until he changed it, LAST NIGHT!!! It is so high I can't

reach it.

>

> I just started to cry. We are very, very blessed. My scrapbook room is

on the other side of the wall of the dining room. A few minutes and my

pictures could have been lost. And worse, we could have lost our dear

kitty.
