Guest guest
1991 Dad's ear turned red and swelled. He went to ENT that didn't know what it was, but took pictures and put him on Pred. & antibodies for awhile. Don't remember how often this went on for about three years and into both ears. Then he went to a Dermy. with Mom to get some cancer off her face and Dad was in an ear flare. The Doc looked at him and said what is that!? I think I know and got out a med book and showed them. He started treating Dad with Pred. & Dapzone and sent him to a specialist in Salt Lake City, UT.( Doc Zone). He took blood test and said what they were doing in Boise, Idaho was what he needed. He saw a Rheumy around 1994 and she put him on high doze of MTX, but it really affected his memory and had to go off of it. Then he got a yeast infection in his sinus that almost killed him. A (new) ENT went in and took all the membrane out and he has been okay with sinus every since. In 1999 a(new) Rheumy started him on low dose of MTX at the same time lowering the Dapzone slowly and increasing the MTX until he was off the Dapzone. He is now on 10mg of MTX and 5mg of Pred. and has not had a flare in the last year of more. We feel he was lucky that was put on Pred. right a way and that stopped damage. He has had flares in ears, nose, eyes, feet, knees. No cartilage in right knee anymore, but puts off having surgery. He will be 81 the 28th of Dec and looks and acts like his is 60! Today he is helping dig a trench to put in city water to his house and Kay's(my sis). My sister was one of the first eight on this list. I took over for her when the e-mails became to much for her. Hope this helps someone. Sorry I don't know all the doses he took. He also takes calcium, Vit D, Multi Vit, actinal, folic acid(always has),prilosec and Verapimal for rapid heart. Had to go to hospital several times to get a shot to slow the heart until they gave him meds for that. Love & prayers, Judee
