Guest guest
Hello! I want to let you all know that I have managed two full days at work, in a row! I feel much better, although not back to normal. I have done some research on the web, plus looked at literature relating to rheumatoid arthritis, because my mom suffers from that, and have found some support for changing to a vegan (no animal products at all, including dairy and egg) diet to decrease the autoimmune triggers. I'm curious if anyone has tried this, has had some successes or frustrations with different diets. Especially after reading so much about chocolate, I'm really getting a craving! My story - I have had my left ear become inflamed and swollen, for over 3 years. I have had sudden hot and tender joints for about 10 years. On the 9th of this month, my nose and other ear became involved and by the 11th, it was throughout my ribs and felt as though it was in my spine. My doctor and ENT diagnosed it and put me on 60 mgs. of Prednisone. Throughout the following week, I had the inflammation travel throughout my body, settling in everywhere, it seemed. My energy also took a hit and on one night, I didn't have the energy to cut my ravioli up for me to eat it, so my partner, Jeaneen, had to. That was a very humbling and scary moment for me. Within about 5 days, the intense pain was gone, although there is still soreness and achyness, that also seems to get worse with the more I do. My energy is back enough that I can work a full day, although it's at a much slower pace. I am scheduled to see a Rheumatologist on Dec. 24th and then to see Dr. Buckner on January 11th. I anticipate becoming a client of Dr. Buckner's, but am waiting for new insurance to start January 1 to be able to see her. Auto immune disorders run in my family and I have had Hashimotos disease (thyroid) for 14 or so years. My mom has rheumatoid arthritis, as do several of her sisters, and a couple of cousins have Crohn's disease. It has remained fairly dormant, after having 1/2 of my thyroid removed and starting thyroid replacements. Well, that's about it. Obviously I'm a " newbie " and I really appreciate finding you all on this site. When I don't get on to read what's happened, I already feel like I haven't checked in with part of my family. Well, take care and I'll talk with you all soon! Thanks for caring and listening!
