It should be brown spotted or more than that.. look like a cow. When you peel it, the banana inside should be soft and you should be able to mash it by hand easily. What is the gauge for knowing when a banana is ripe enough. I've read there is no green on the banana and it has to have brown spots, but how many? IMHO, I would say those are photos of very ripe bananas. Thanks everyone for the description and pictures. I've been eating mine not

quite as ripe, probably more what Amelia stated. Definitely brown spots but not

a ton.
