airway collapse

Hi all: I saw my pulmonologist Tuesday, and according to my PFTs, there seems to be an airway collapse during expiration. In fact, the print out he showed me looked like it was wound pretty tight. He said he thought it was a large tube -- either trachea or further down, possibly around where it branches out. Anyway, we discussed a bronchoscopy and how it would show all the damage, but he didn't want to do it because he thought there could be a possibility of more collapse. He has never place a stent and he said he would feel better if a doctor with experience in placing stents, did the scope -- just in case.

I remember some posts mentioning the use of a BI-pap or C-pap machine to force the airways open. I think I would much rather goes this route, but I need info to take to my doc. I have the articles by Dr. Herman and the BI-pap is mentioned, but I need more details.

I know some of you are familiar with this and might be able to help. I would greatly appreciate it and the sooner the better!

Hugs and smiles,

L. :>)
