some bad days, never really as good as when I went off the intro diet. So 4 days

reaction. Achy back and shoulders, headaches, nausea vomiting, increased ileum

pain.

It may or may not be die off, but it can often take a while to stabilize and

the path may not be as clean as it was initially.

Use epsom baths to ameliorate the achiness and headaches.

And feel better.

Hang in there. Mara has said before that the path is not linear but circular.

The first few months can be up and down. I went on intro several times when

things got unglued. Then they stabilized again. Stay on bland easy to digest

foods for a while.

Whenever I eat too much of anything, I " paid " for it. But as time goes on you

will tolerate more.

I second epsom salt baths. You can also try activated charcoal.

Mix the contents of 2 capsules of charcoal in 2 cups boiling water. The charcoal

will settle to the bottom. When it's all settled, it should be cool enough to

drink. You can use the charcoal twice... I got this information from Jodi...

I do not have series of die off when I have a little flare and go back intro

though.

Thanks for the info and the sympathy everyone. It's so nice to have a helpful community to ask these sorts of questions of.Unfortunately I don't have a bathtub, just a shower. So I'll have to make do with soaking my feet and ankles with epsom salt. Also, I'm not feeling well enough to go out and pick up charcoal (and I don't trust anyone else to do it for me) so it will have to wait for next time. I sure appriciate the advice though.~CD, SCD 02/21/10

Whether I have time for an epsom salt bath or not, I always use a homemade epsom salt/coconut oil lotion. It helps tremendously and makes my skin feel super soft. Check out this website for information on how epsom salt helps us detox and how to make your own oil, lotion, spray etc.

Hi ,

I have only been on the diet since the beginning of February, but I think one

thing that happened with me was I ended up overfeeding my yeasts when I started

eating bananas, cooked carrots and winter squash, and the DCCC - all of these

are beloved by yeasts. I think the yogurt might have helped them too, since my

tongue always got more coated when I ate yogurt. I think I am just

yeast-paranoid now, but yeasts dying can cause die-off too. There are so many

types of bacteria that it seems like if one of them likes what you're eating

okay but the others have died off, it might overpopulate until you do the intro

again, so it's like getting things in balance one step at at time. Just a

thought.

Thanks! Someone else suggested that too and I am about to look it up online,

since I don't have any here. Is it found at Super Supplements and vitamin

stores? Or grocery stores?

Is that one that you put in rotation with garlic, grapefruit seed extract, oil

of oregano? Or is it used in conjunction? I am doing garlic right now, but only

every other day till I can handle more.

Yes, alot of people use it in rotation with the things you listed. Oil of Oregano shouldn't be used for more than 10 days straight. I forget why.... I just use whatever is convenient. If I don't have much time during the day i'm not going to get my juicer dirty to make a 6 ounce glass of carrot/garlic juice. Instead I take a spoonfull of coconut oil, or i'll take a shot of oregano oil. Grapefruit seed extract didn't do anything for me, but I would take a pill when convenience and time were a factor. So, some days I was taking oil of oregano in the morning and coconut oil at night and some days it was coconut oil in the morning and carrot/garlic juice at night. You get the point. As far as where to get coconut oil from... here is a link to where I order mine.http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/virgin_coconut_oil.htmAll the way at the top right of the webpage there is a link

Thanks! Someone else suggested that too and I am about to look it up online, since I don't have any here. Is it found at Super Supplements and vitamin stores? Or grocery stores?

Is that one that you put in rotation with garlic, grapefruit seed extract, oil of oregano? Or is it used in conjunction? I am doing garlic right now, but only every other day till I can handle more.

Then I ate too many banana pancakes one morning; since CD, I haven't been able to eat as much food as I want in one sitting because of a structured Ileum. I figured it was just too much food, not the banana's (which weren't new). Anyway, after that I had some okay days and some bad days, never really as good as when I went off the intro diet. So 4 days ago I went back on the intro diet and I seem to be having another die-off reaction. Achy back and shoulders, headaches, nausea vomiting, increased ileum pain.

what exactly do you use for coconut oil lotion? Is there a ready made bottle of coconut oil in liquid form (not for oral consumption) that you buy? DarleneIntestinal Dysbiosis/CFSSCD 1 month

Whether I have time for an epsom salt bath or not, I always use a homemade epsom salt/coconut oil lotion. It helps tremendously and makes my skin feel super soft. Check out this website for information on how epsom salt helps us detox and how to make your own oil, lotion, spray etc.

Thanks for the info and the sympathy everyone. It's so nice to have a helpful community to ask these sorts of questions of.

Unfortunately I don't have a bathtub, just a shower. So I'll have to make do with soaking my feet and ankles with epsom salt. Also, I'm not feeling well enough to go out and pick up charcoal (and I don't trust anyone else to do it for me) so it will have to wait for next time. I sure appriciate the advice though.

Hi Darlene

I used edible coconut oil (although it was the cheaper expeller pressed instead of virgin). Following the directions in the url I referenced below, I dissolved the epsom salt in filtered water and added it to the coconut oil. The first time I made it I didn't use the stove at all and I was too impatient. The epsom salts didn't disolve very well so the lotion was very grainy. The second time I used the stove to heat the 3 TBS water and 4 TBS epsom salt to make sure it was well dissolved, then I added the 12 TBS coconut oil, immediately took it off the stove and poured it into a pretty jar to sit on my bathroom counter. The second batch gel'd a lot more so it formed a hard surface on top that you have to break thru, but the creamy lotion feels much better on the skin. Next time I'll let the hot salt water cool a little more before I add the coconut oil to see if that gives the mixture more of a creamy

surface.
