I guess I should have mentioned that you could just as easily use olive oil or whatever you prefer :)

Hi Darlene

I used edible coconut oil (although it was the cheaper expeller pressed instead of virgin). Following the directions in the url I referenced below, I dissolved the epsom salt in filtered water and added it to the coconut oil. The first time I made it I didn't use the stove at all and I was too impatient. The epsom salts didn't disolve very well so the lotion was very grainy. The second time I used the stove to heat the 3 TBS water and 4 TBS epsom salt to make sure it was well dissolved, then I added the 12 TBS coconut oil, immediately took it off the stove and poured it into a pretty jar to sit on my bathroom counter. The second batch gel'd a lot more so it formed a hard surface on top that you have to break thru, but the creamy lotion feels much better on the skin. Next time I'll let the hot salt water cool a little more before I add the coconut oil to see if that gives the mixture more of a creamy

surface.

,

what exactly do you use for coconut oil lotion? Is there a ready made bottle of coconut oil in liquid form (not for oral consumption) that you buy? DarleneIntestinal Dysbiosis/CFSSCD 1 month

Whether I have time for an epsom salt bath or not, I always use a homemade epsom salt/coconut oil lotion. It helps tremendously and makes my skin feel super soft. Check out this website for information on how epsom salt helps us detox and how to make your own oil, lotion, spray etc.

Thanks for the info and the sympathy everyone. It's so nice to have a helpful community to ask these sorts of questions of.

Unfortunately I don't have a bathtub, just a shower. So I'll have to make do with soaking my feet and ankles with epsom salt. Also, I'm not feeling well enough to go out and pick up charcoal (and I don't trust anyone else to do it for me) so it will have to wait for next time. I sure appriciate the advice though.

I second epsom salt baths. You can also try activated charcoal.Mix the contents of 2 capsules of charcoal in 2 cups boiling water. The charcoal will settle to the bottom. When it's all settled, it should be cool enough to drink. You can use the charcoal twice... I got this information from Jodi...I do not have series of die off when I have a little flare and go back intro though. , Thanks!

So do you use it as a body lotion all over? I'm thinking this might be a great idea to rub on my abdomen everyday, especially liver and pancreas area, to help for detox. DarleneIntestinal Dysbiosis/CFSSCD 1 month

I use this epsom salt/coconut oil everywhere on a regular basis (and occasionally as a facial moisturizer too). When my son's having a hard time or feeling bad, I rub it into his arms, hands and/or feet. The magnesium has a calming effect, the sulfate helps with detox and the coconut oil helps with everything :0

Is coconut oil also good for topical use on anal skin tags? I had one a few months ago when I flared and the flagyl I took did a pretty good job of making it go down, but it is still there a little bit. How can I get it to go away for good?I had them before and they went away on there own, but when I flared, one came back. Would very much like to get rid of it for good.

Thanks !

Oregano shouldn't be used for more than 10 days straight. I forget why....

i'm not going to get my juicer dirty to make a 6 ounce glass of carrot/garlic

juice. Instead I take a spoonfull of coconut oil, or i'll take a shot of oregano

oil. Grapefruit seed extract didn't do anything for me, but I would take a pill

when convenience and time were a factor. So, some days I was taking oil of

oregano in the morning and coconut oil at night and some days it was coconut oil

in the morning and carrot/garlic juice at night. You get the point.
