At the time I didn't have one.. He told me he knew how to diagnose it but didn't know how to treat it. DUH!!! A lot of help he was.. I have found the the ENt's (not all) are going to plastic surgery and not sticking to the diseases of ears, nose and throat... Guess they make more money that way. LOL All ther was in his office was pamphlets on how to fix your eyelids, nose, etc. I have seen many rheumys too.. & *(^$%$%^ & Did you understand that???? Frustrating huh? I sure wish I could help...Don't you hesitate to go to the ER if you start having problems with your throat... Take them some reading literature and insist that SOMEONE needs to treat you... When you call the rheumy, tell the receptionist that this is a serious matter and that you can't wait 2-3 months for an appt. (That was the wait here) I don't think so!!! Know that we are all here and are all on your side... Let us know what happens. hugs

Guest guest
Dear Kathleen, been there done that. I had two different doctors say when they were in med school they had everything they read about. So the RP was all in my head and I had faxed over my records and they didn't even bother to read them. I know its so frustrating. I wish you good luck....Sue M

Guest guest
Kathleen, Sometimes dealing with doctors is worse than dealing with the RP. Some of my worst experiences were with ENTs. Do you have a PCP that can give you a script for the Pred.? Hugs, Sandy Grrrrrrr! $#@%$#%#$%!!!! Went to the ENT today in hopes of getting somemeds that would help. He told me that it is not his area of specializationand he can't prescribed high doses of pred!!! When I told him that thewebsites he referred me to seemed to confirm his diagnosis, he told me to becareful of "2nd year med student syndrome" in which you believe that youhave everything you read.....!!!!! He sent me there for God's sake. Thenhe gives me a referral to 2 rheumies, one of which I discover only treatsfoot and ankle problems! What the hell is he doing???? I then asked himabout the inflammation he saw on the wall between my esophagus and tracheawhen I was having a serious throat flare and he said that RP is visibleexternally only after serious inflammation. Well, DUH!!!! I would like toknow what else he thinks it could be????? My friend who is a nurse saidthat he just doesn't want to take me on as a patient and is afraid to treatme. That really sucks. Now I have to wait to get in to a rheumy and sufferand hopefully my throat won't swell shut or collapse in the mean time....Not to mention my nose collapsing or going blind or deaf...Any advice?KathleenDISCLAIMER!!WE ARE NOT MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS, THEREFORE ANY INFORMATION THAT IS RECEIVED HERE IS FROM EXPERIENCE ONLY. Guest guest
Kathleen, Sorry to hear that you are having such a time with Doctors. Sometimes I think they are afraid we will learn something and pay attention to what they say. Now that would be scary wouldn't it! I will be sending good thoughts and prayers that all will start going your way soon!
