Dawn, I am going through this now.. I lowered my pred to 8 mg four days ago

and today I'm having a ear flare... My joints are in alot of pain and I am

really hoarse... I know I will need to go on another med to get off the pred,

but which one??? lOL I think Plaquenil was the next drug of choice. Will

find out when I see the rheumy on the 19th. Hang in there girl, we will get

through this together. Have a great weekend.

I have a question, how long have you been on pred. I

am trying to get off of it, and the lower on my dose i

get, i start having throat problems and joint aches

and pains, now today my eyes and my throat are buring

and itching, and i have a major headache. my

dr(Rheumy) tells me i have to get off of it, because i

have been on it for a year. anywhere from 80 mgs

down. i am only on 15 mgs now but really now doing

well at all.

I have been on Pred. non-stop since March of 99. Started at 60mg. a day. I am

still on 30 mg. a day now and have never been able to go lower that 25mg. My

Rheumy wants me to start lowering it on Monday. I'm to take 25mg. of Pred. a day

and moniter my sypmtoms. If my flares get worse I have to go back up.

What else are you on dawn? I can't see lowering it if your flares are getting

worse. My Rheumy leaves the dosage up to me because I know my body best.

I'm nervous about tapering the Pred. because everytime I've tried I had to be

hospitalized for breathing problems.
