Guest guest
Kathi G. Thank you so much for your reply. You don't know how this makes me feel! I am glad that I make you feel better with the posts. That makes my day! I really feel that my BP has been elevated. I was getting headaches and flushed feelings. Ears were red too. At first thought I was flaring but didn't feel the same. On the diaziade it was 153/109 and then after waiting awhile it was 135/95. It is the bottom number that they worry about. Yes it worries me too because I cared for my Dad for about 6 yrs. after he had a major stroke. He was on major high blood pressure med and it didn't help. My older sister is fighting with it too. I work in an office at a mill. One of the women I work with walked in on Friday and said she sure was hurting. I thought she was complaining about her joints but she said she had shingles. I just kind of backed away from her. She said what's wrong I'm not contagious. I said you are, as long as you have blisters. She said she had just broke out on Wed. She is contagious as long as she has blisters and they are not crusted over. As for the TB I am around people who are migrant type workers. The job I have includes doing safety training for all the contractors that come to the plant site. They come in from who knows where with who knows what. My sister said I need to find another job where I don't deal with the public so much. I have worked at this site for 20 yrs. so make good wages due to being a supervisor. Would be hard to find a job that would pay that. Wish I could find one I could do from my home but haven't gotten there yet! Shoot you are exposed to this kind of stuff every time you enter a grocery store or anything. I can't spend my life in a bubble so I just take my chances. It just is upsetting when I think back to January this year and having to move out of my home because the family had chicken pox because they were worried about me getting shingles. Then a woman walks into my office who knows I have a surpressed immune system and she says she is not contagious. Don't Dr. tell their patients anything? Pretty scary! Well here I go again writing another book! Sorry! Take care and thanks so much for making me feel better! Lots of Love Glenda

Guest guest
Glenda, Even if the Dr. was a jerk, I am sure glad that you went with B/P's like that!! As you know, that is dangerously high. What new medication did he put you on? Do you have a machine that you can check your B/P with and monitor the effects of the new med? You have to get that down! Someone should have turned the lady you work with around and sent her home when they found out she had active shingles--especially with everything going on in this country right now!! Your right though-- her Dr. should have told her she was contagious!! Maybe he did and she chose not to hear him???? (That was a rare slip for me-- I don't defend Dr.'s very often!!). Take care, and have a great day!
