Guest guest
LOL :-) ....Kapa'a, Kapalua, Kahana......they all sound alike!! What's a brain-fogged broad to do?? It's a GOOD thing there's only one road around the island or this girl would get lost LOL Thank you for your lucious description of Maui. You really have helped to get me enthused about going back. We were actually there in April for our 25th anniversary and everything you mentioned brings back wonderful memories. (I'll still worry about my kidlings back home though... and they're each old enough to survive without Mom and Dad for a little while )-: I know what you mean about the rapid expansion and building boom that took place....in a relatively short time. The first time I went to Maui was in 1972. Lahaina was just a tiny strip along the beach...literally a block or two blocks long with old wooden boards for a sidewalk. There was even a sweet Japanese man who owned one of the few variety stores along the walk and he loved to make snowcones with his antique (and rusty!) snowcone machine.....I'm not sure which of them was older :-) Now there are Crazy Shirt stores and jewelry stores for miles (well, almost miles :-) I love the restaurants!! Yes, Ma'am I bought some mosquito repellant today :-) and I've been taking PABA pills (remember when they used to include PABA in sunscreen lotions?) If you're not allergic to PABA it works great in preventing sunburn. Because I'm on long-term antibiotics and because I also have a skin affected rheumatic disease (dermatomyositis) I don't last long in the sun. In April, after being on the PABA for several months, I didn't have any problem in the Hawaiian sun. I could lay out there with the pros. So thank you again for helping me and I hope everyone else can take a mental trip to the warm sandy beaches if not for real. I wish it was easier to travel between islands and then we could get together! I hope you are doing well, . Take care, Aloha (I like the sound of that! :-) Connie > Hello, Connie and Glenda.... > > Just to help clarify.....Kapa'a is on the island of Kauai, which is about > a 45 minute plane ride from Maui.
