Hi ,

Mike already emailed me and I replied. Thanks for letting me know about him. There is something comforting knowing that I'm not alone on this Island. Is he a member of the group? Did he say what his diet was. I've often thought about going to a natropath but you can't do the herbs with the priscription meds. Some say you can but that's not true. I've taken several courses about herbs, iridology and reflexology. I don't know if I'll every get off these meds anytime they try to go down, I have problems. I'm curious about his diet, I'm sure he'll ley me know.

Take care and thanks again,

Elaine

Elaine, I have virtually no lithium from my hair analysis. told me to

take it..could it make me more hyper? I think he said take 18 mg does that

sound right? They come in 5 mg. Thank you!

Hi Kim,

Lithium competes with iodine and causes hypothyroidism in most people just as

iodine deficiency used to. But it also acts as an autoimmune trigger and can

cause autoimmune hypothyroidism or autoimmune hyperthyroidism.

I'm not a big fan of hair metal analysis since hair has to be first digested

in a chemical process that varies between labs. I don't think I'd take

lithium on the basis of a hair analysis. And I'm not sure what benefits you

would be getting from it. Take care, Elaine

Hi,

They're probably just being cautious in adding another 2.5 mg carbimazole to

prevent T3 from rising higher.

Total thyroid hormone levels (T4 and T3) measure free (available) hormone and

also the hormone that's linked to protein molecules and inactive. Changes in

levels of carrier proteins can make T4 or T3 falsely high in low. And the

protein levels rise in people on estrogens and other meds. Total levels aren't

used as much today unless for some reason free thryoid hormone levels (FT4 and

FT3) are unavailable. There is no point in running both levels. The FT4 and FT3

are optimal tests.

Best to you, Elaine
