Guest guest
Barbara, Hi....I think you will do completely fine during the holidays. At 2 weeks out you are still just so excited about having the surgery. I know with me, I really didn't have an appetite. Still now, almost 8 weeks out, I would rather drink fluids than eat. I am thirsty all the time. I had also waited such a long time to have this, I would not of cared what time of year it was. The other good part is that I don't crave candy or sweets like I use to. I use to eat alot of junk food.....now it doesn't appeal to me at all. Even now I will be limited to what I can eat and the portions will be small. I will just eat slow and get full and be done. Happy Holidays to you!!! Patty RNY-9/28/05 -33lbs"Hokoana, Barbara" wrote: Has anyone else gone through surgery during the holidays. Guest guest
Barbara, yes, I agree with Patty. You are going to be so excited about what you have just gone through that it won't even matter. No, I was not hungry which was weird and I too was a junk food junkie/junky (lol). I believe you will be fine. Go for what you know. Pam Marsh --- Patty wrote: > Barbara, > > Hi....I think you will do completely fine during > the holidays. Guest guest
Thanks Pam and Patti. I figured that would be the case. Although I think I may just have to taste some pumpkin pie for thanksgiving. But I will have to admit, all the cravings I have given in to, have not tasted nearly as good as I remember. After a few bites, I couldnt remember why I had to have it so bad and ended up throwing the rest away. Guest guest
Barbara I think food wise you will be okay, because you really won't be hungry. Seeing every one else eat all the different foods does make you want to crave it though. Also you still will be on the tired side from surgery. You can handle it, I came home from the hospital and 2 days later my husband tore his tendent in his are the next week he had surgery and I was at the hospital with all my stuff in a back pack and a little ice chest of goods. Two weeks later my mother had surgery to have a lump out of her neck that could of turned to cancer, I was there the whole time also. Then 2 weeks later I went back to work and reopened my daycare. Things do get tough, but you can do it. Take care and stay strong. Donna"Hokoana, Barbara" wrote: Has anyone else gone through surgery during the holidays. Guest guest
Thank you Donna, That is really inspiring. You went through all of that after just having major surgery and I am worrying about some turkey and pie. It really puts things into perspective so thank you very much. Guest guest
I have my marathon appointments starting on the 29th. I still need to pick up my perscriptions. I'm mostly excited can't wait to start my path on a new life. A little scared not knowing what to expect. JUst trying to stay focused. So if you don't mind me asking what kinds of med's do you have to take prior to the surgery? Or what kind of prep do you have to do? I'm just curious with the different doctors. > > > > Has anyone else gone through surgery during the holidays. Guest guest
Hi , So far nothing. I have no co-morbities so I'm not on any meds. I haven't been prescribed anything, but I meet with Dr. Fisher on the 2nd, so maybe I will be given something then. My marathon appts went great - no problems - I was cleared by the anesticiologist (sp?) and the cardiologist so I am good to go! Guest guest
No special medicine, just fleet to clean your system out, it's not good, but it's all worth it to get to the other side. You'll be fine, just getting a little nervous as time gets closer and this is very normal. Take care, we're here. Donnada6bearz wrote: I have my marathon appointments starting on the 29th.
