Protonix isn't a medication that is covered by Kaiser anymore as of a couple months ago. It has been replaced with Prilosec on the "approved kaiser medication list". I was told this 3 weeks ago when I went to have my medications filled prior to surgery. I did get Kaiser to pay for mine because I took the script to my PCP and he put some code on it so the pharmacy knew it was important for me to have that medication because I wasnt able to swallow capsules. Prilosec is a huge capsule and Protonix is a really tiny tablet. Both are time released so not sure how good either of them are after bypass.
