Guest guest
Since we're on the subject - I tried to let Christian cry it out a few nights ago. It took him about 45 minutes to go to sleep ( I did go in every 10 minutes and he cried louder at those times). He did fall asleep but woke up 5 times that night. In my weakness (as usual) and because he had no voice from crying so much all night I broke again. I tried again the next night and he did the same thing. Its seems like when he wakes up in the middle of the night and sees that he is in his crib he flips out like a maniac!!! I guess this is separation anxiety at its best and its getting the best of me! I haven't had a good nights sleep since early 2003.LOL. Oh, and don't you love those people who come home from the hospital with babies who sleep all night!!!! My friend just had a baby 2 weeks ago and he sleeps 7 hours a night already!!!! Everyone has such great suggestions on here Mommy to (12-17-98) and Christian (1-30-04) LCF - DBB (nights only)

I haven't had a good nights sleep since early 2003.LOL. My first son was never a good sleeper and still isn't to this day. He is up to start the day before my 12 week old baby. I read the book " On Becoming Babywise " and it has made a huge difference in my second son. I wish I would have known about the book the first go around because I think my first son might have improved his sleep patterns. The book is very useful and has my 12 week old sleeping from 7pm til 6:30am. I wake him for a feeding around 10pm. My first sonn did not sleep through the night til he was 6 months old. The day my second son and I came home from the hospital I started using the book's advice right off the bat. Guest guest
yes!!! those people make me so upset!!! grace is my first and i breastfed her... i didn't realize until she was about 2 months old that it really only takes like 15 minutes for them to fully eat.. and the other 30 minutes she was latched on was like a passifier!! i didn't have any idea how i was supposed to even take a shower when she was eating every 3 hours and it took her almost an our to eat... i felt like i was constantly sitting on the couch feeding her.. hubby made a joke when i was on maternity leave that when he leaves the house in the morning we are nursing and when he gets home we are nursing.. he swore we didn't move all day.. lol.. on the crying it out thing.. to be honest i did that and it worked like a charm for me and grace.. but i didn't go back in after ten minutes.. that would make her hysterical... she never cried for longer than 20 minutes though.. but i just kept saying one more minute, one more minute.. and she stopped.. and she wasn't out of control the entire time... she would die down for 2-3 minutes then get worked up again.. so i knew she wasn't totally freaked out.. but i don't really suggest going in there after 10 minutes for all children... i think it makes it worse on them.. they think you are coming to save them and then leave again.. just my opinion.. it worked well for grace and for my 2 neices.. but all kids are different... hth.. also.. i don't think there is any way possible that i could have done that method on her younger than she was.. she was a little over a year old.. my sister did it with my neice at 8 months old.. but i couldn't have done it then... then there are nights like last night... she went to bed and less than 3 minutes later she started crying.. i waited a minute or 2 and she was still at it.. i knew something was up.. go in there and she had taken her braces off and was holding them over the crib rails... lol... she laughed when i got in there.. but i think she was worried because she took them off... lol... mommy to Grace 12-03-03 BCF Dobb's Brace 16/7 Gerace wrote: Since we're on the subject - I tried to let Christian cry it out a few nights ago. Guest guest
> Oh, and don't you love those people who come home from the hospital with > babies who sleep all night!!!! , my firstborn was like that. She slept 5-6 hours straight through right from the start. I would nurse her to sleep around 9pm...then 'top her up' when I went to bed between 11 and 12. She would sleep until 5 or 6 in the morning and I would just bring her to my bed and nurse her (we'd both fall back to sleep). I would wake up around 8 or so and many times she would continue to sleep until 9am. She was truly a dream baby....even when she got older and was sleeping in her own crib in her own room, I was able to put her to bed fully awake. I would just lay her down, say 'night night', wind up the mobile and leave the room...she'd coo softly to herself for awhile before falling asleep. My husband and I were sucked in to believing that all babies were like that - ha ha ha! Boy, we had a rude awakening when #2 arrived - total opposite!! Mother Nature's idea of 'payback' I guess! LOL!
