Guest guest
Daiga I did talk to the Doctor about the hours and how we plan to reduce them... she did say that during the training with Dr. Ponsetti that it was taught to her to do the casting then if needed a tenotomy, then a cast again for 3 weeks after that procedure and then the shoes full time for 3 months and then nights only...BUT.... I told her that we feel that is why she didn't tolerate the shoes anymore that maybe her foot had started to relapse and she really didn't think it would happen that quickly (but I do think that is what happened). I did tell her that I had read on the website that it should go to night and naptime and I asked her if maybe I had misunderstood but she said no that is what she told me...BUT... she did say that she is now telling everyone to slowly reduce the hours because of our situation...we haven't really discussed at what point and for how long on each increment of time that we are doing it for but it will be asked as we go... what do you think of the time??. .. how long for each increment of time?? where can I find that particular information at?? How long do you stay in the shoes for 18 hours for and then how long do you stay in them for 16 hours?? ect, ect, ect... I do feel that she has trained with Dr. Ponsetti and that she knows what she is doing... I know I haven't educated myself as well as I should have but that is why I am so very thankful for finding this group... I hope to bounce ideas off of everyone hear and get good feedback as I already have!! One concern that I do have is that ... I think it was .... had asked me about her foot being fully corrected and it being at a 70 degree rotation.... how do they measure that??? and her foot looked just straight to me... not turned outward after the last cast was taken off... and we are due to have the tenotomy on Friday the 3rd.. how do I go about checking that out at this point?? The cast is on and they won't take it off until they do the procedure...I had really questioned that the foot was already corrected because it did only take three casts this time before the tenotomy... is that to soon or does it just depend on the childs foot?? Her foot looks great.. she has such a cute little foot and toes but it just happens to have been turned in but now that it is straight it looked great to me... but really what do I know?!?!? The one thing that I noticed this time was that there aren't any creases... she really had them last time but her foot was SO much smaller then... is that a good sign or doesn't really matter?? Thanks again for listening to me go on and on... Daiga Grady wrote: , I'm glad to hear that Avery is responding so well to the casting! What a relief! I'm sure that she will catch up with her sister in no time once her foot is fixed up! Hey, just curious...did you ever talk to the doctor about the recommended hours in the brace?
