Guest guest
Hi I have not posted for a while. My youngest child Toby has bilateral club feet and has been treated in Kenya where we live. I was worried about progress so got in touch with Dr Ponseti directly and sent him photos and x-rays. Dr P says Toby's feet have not been corrected properly and he has 'atypical' clubfeet. other than himself he recommended 3 doctors in Europe that we should fly to to get treatment, as he said Toby needs to be seen by someone who is used to atypical feet. We are making plans to go to manchester to see Dr in a couple of weeks. We will be staying with my parents in London (so they can look after my other two aged 5 and 3) and I will be making weekly trips up to Manchester for what looks like a couple of months. I wondered whether any UK parents who use this group might be able to recommend a place to stay overnight near the hospital as i think the return trip might be too much for one day. Thanks Yolande (Toby 28/09/04)

Guest guest
Hi, Yolande- I can't recommend places to stay since I'm in the U.S., but you might consider posting on the STEPS board, or even contacting the directors as they will surely be able to help you. http://www.steps- charity.org.uk/home.php Best wishes for a safe trip and successful and FAST correction for Toby. I have heard only praises for Dr. , so I know you'll really like her. Please keep us posted as you're able. Regards, & (3-16-00, left clubfoot) > Hi > > I have not posted for a while. Guest guest
Hi Yolande My son is being treated by Naomi, on Dr Ponseti's recommendation for atypical bilateral clubfeet. When we had to go weekly (500 mile round trip), we stayed in a premier travel inn, which costs approx £50 per night for the room and breakfast. There are quite a few of them near the hospital (up to half an hour away). the nearest is in Manchester, Heaton Park. The phone number in the UK is 08701 977174. It's basic, but comfortable and a breakfast is included. It can get very pricey staying in hotels in Manchester if you are going up every week, but the premier travel inn's suited us fine. We used to travel up the night before, have breakfast, then (my son) would have his morning nap before we headed to the hospital. It's worth booking in advance once you know your dates, as often there are concerts and football matches in Manchester and it can sometimes be difficult to find somewhere to stay. If you go to the Steps website there is a discussion forum there (like this one but on a much smaller scale), you'll find plenty of other parents whose children have been treated by Naomi. You'll find we all think she is brilliant, so Toby will be in good hands. the email address is steps-charity.org.uk Good luck, Stella > Hi > > I have not posted for a while.
