Guest guest
Hey Liane ...my 2nd labs show that I'm low on iron (again) but the good doc told me to up my dosgae of Fergon. Hmmmm...can it be that this form is not as absorbable??? I take Calcium Citrate, can I take it with my iron (and where did you get this info)? Thanks a bunch! {{{HUGS}}} TJ Lap DS 2/16/01 > AJ- > Don't know if it will stop surgery, but I do think you should start > supplementing till surgery. Guest guest
HI TJ!!! I think Fergon is Ferrous Gluconate.. better than sulfate, but not as easily absorbed as fumarate. The info. of Ca Citrate and iron was courtesy of talking to one of the dieticians at Mt Sinai. could probably tell you the actual source before I could, but I'm looking, lol.. One way to boost Iron (and calcium) absorption is to take it with Vitamin C.. it boosts absorption. How're you doing. TJ?? Other than low iron? Feeling good? I am.. finally. =) Hugs, Liane > > Hey Liane ...my 2nd labs show that I'm low on iron (again) but the > good doc told me to up my dosgae of Fergon. Guest guest
Thanks for the info. I'll start on the Perfect Iron and Vit.C this week. I'm doing pretty good. My PCP said that I'm down 70 lbs. according to their records but it's closer to 80 i think. My eyesight is improving but I still can't drive ...yet. I do expect to recover 100% (God is able). My energy level has been soooo low for a few weeks now and I finally saw my PCP and then contacted dr.smith after getting my labs back (iron and calcium is low). I am wearing size 22/24 now down from a 32/34W. I still have quite a bit of weight to lose but it will come off in good time. Glad to hear you're doing well. See ya, TJ Btw...do you have Troutman's email? If so please send it privately. TIA. > HI TJ!!! > I think Fergon is Ferrous Gluconate.. better than sulfate, but not as > easily absorbed as fumarate. Guest guest
WOW- 80 lbs!!!! That's fantastic!! I'm also very relieved that you're getting your sight back.. I felt so bad about that, because I've cared for ( & assisted in insertion of) more centrals than I can shake a stick at, & I'd never been told of the potential for that side effect. For the low calcium, if taking your citrate w/vitamin C doesn't help, you might consider the Cal-Apatite in the bookmarks.. even my mom's ortho doctor told her that there is research showing that it really does rebuild bones, etc. I was impressed (I bought some for her because she has osteoparosis), because she basically blew me off when I brought it to her.. but she asked, so now she uses it. Congrats on your FABULOUS results!! Hugs, Liane ....who is 38 today... ....6 weeks postop.. ...- 37+ lbs... .... =D... > > HI TJ!!! > > I think Fergon is Ferrous Gluconate.. better than sulfate, but not > as > > easily absorbed as fumarate.
