Kathy,

I experienced the same thing early on. I was able to tolerate all kinds of

junk foods, but anything really heavy would make me nauseous. But.... It does

get better! Junk food still goes down very well, but I try not to eat too

much, I always go for the protien first. Have you tried beef jerkey? For me

this did wonders because it seemed like I was eating junk food, but it has

tons of protien in it too. Good luck.

Hello Everyone.

I was wondering, I am 1 month post op and have lost 35 lbs. I am trying different foods just to see what I can do and can't. Small portions of course. I am noticing I can keep junk food such as chips, ice cream and cheese cake down not a problem, but I am having trouble with other foods. Is anyone else experience this??

Also, I havn't lost any weight for the last week and a half, is this normal so soon??

Thanks,

Kathy

Revising our idea of what a " good " food is after the DS is an

interesting process. Since we don't have to worry much about fat grams,

we can sort of dismiss that (assuming fats don't bother you) no GI

distress issues for the individual) at look more to the protein grams.

One thing that I like but rarely ate as a pre-op due to it's

astronomical fat content was corned beef hash. Check out a can next time

you're in the store -- it has tons of protein! Same with bacon -- ignore

the fat and look at the protein and you'll see it's a great post-op

food.

Delphine once told me a " quick and dirty " way to get a ballpark idea of

how many calories I'm actually absorbing. Take a look at the nutritional

label, minus out the fat calories from the total calories, and that'll

be roughly equivalent to the number of " absorbable " calories in that

food. It makes for some interesting discoveries when you look at things

that way!

,

I have been away from my computer for awhile, It sounds like you are doing a lot better than the last time I checked in. I am only reading todays posts for now so I am glad I got to see your post. I have been thinking of you and saying a few prayers that the rough times would pass. I am glad you are doing better. Hope to hear more of the same. Keep up your spirits. Hugs
