Guest guest
I took zinc and it didnt do any good......tried the Nioxin shampoo and conditioner too (its pricey) and didnt notice any difference. I think it all relates to protein intake plus the fact that you had major surgery, but its going to happen regardless of what you try to do to prevent it, although some have it mild and some have it heavy. Just have to wait and see......>>>>> I agree with Judie that the hair loss will happen regardless if it's going to happen -- But, I think that, although protein plays a role, it doesn't mean that you are getting too little protein if your hair falls out. My three month labs came back with fine protein levels and I get about 80 gms/day in. My hair still started falling out about three months post-op! LOL I took zinc lozenges twice a day (one pill twice a day). There is also zinc in your multi and perhaps some traces in your calcium (If you have Calcium Citrate + Magnesium and Minerals)...so, you are getting zinc in the vitamins you are already taking. I've heard mixed reviews about taking supplemental zinc (and Nioxin). My hair started falling out at three months post-op, but it hasn't been to the point where I have bald spots or have really thinned out. I usually wear it in a pony tail to avoid aggrevating it. But, I get a bunch of it whenever I brush my hair, man! Dr. GAgner said that the hair loss is normal and will continue until about nine monthspost-op (usually starting at three-four months post-op). I'm not sure what it is that causes some people to experience more severe loss while others don't really notice it... all the best, lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 five months post-op and still feelin' fab! pre-op: 307 lbs/bmi 45 (5'9 " ) now: 239 (maybe going down???? FInALLY?)

Guest guest
, Mine started at 3 1/2 months and now at almost 8 months has literally stopped, thank goodness LOL Mine wasnt bad to the point of having bald spots either but I can tell the difference as it was really thick before it started falling out. I dont relish the thought of going thru this again if I have the tummy tuck!
