Guest guest
, I'm curious, does your son have a crease on his heels? Either lateral or horizontal? Are they very short and fat, almost *sausage* looking? If any of these signs ring true, you need to contact Dr. Ponseti and your doc together about treating Atypical. Those feet won't stay in the Markell's, and absolutely need the P/M's. Darbi just got her first pair last week. They are pretty cool, even if she doesn't like them as well... yet! Guest guest
, I am sorry you are having so much trouble. Have you thought about emailing pictures to Dr. Ponseti? As Kori said, maybe his feet are atypical. If that is the case, that would certainly explain the problems with the Markells. Dr. (Ponseti approved) took photos today to show to Dr. Ponseti, and is consulting with him regarding the problems we're having. We're going to give the shoes and bar a try. My husband had to wear special shoes when he was a baby (his feet are extra wide), and his father was kicked out of the army because he had flat feet....so it just makes sense that I would have problems with my son's feet and shoes! AHHHH!!!!! Dr. has made comments about how strong my son is. He always wiggles out of the shoes, even when I have those suckers torked really tight. I AM making sure his heel is down too. I go around the side of him and bend his knee when I put his shoes on, making sure his foot is dorsiflexed when I put the shoes on him. Makes no difference though. Yesterday my son was crying so hard with the shoes and bar on that he forgot to breathe. All I could think about was, what if it was during the night and we didn't hear him, or something horrible like that. I'm hoping the shoes will make a difference for him. Guest guest
, If you're giving up on those shoes, why don't you cut a hole in the back heel so you can see what's going on inside. It might give you a better perspective as to why they aren't working for him and what you need to watch out for with the P/M's once they come. Can't hurt the shoes and you have no other use for them now anyway. Doing so has always has been an eye opener for parents who do cut the hole, it usually helps them understand why the shoes aren't working. Has anyone returned their shoes and bar to where you got them from. I don't want to have to pay for these suckers if they don't work!!
