Guest guest
i had my upper endo done thurs. at 2 pm. it took them two tries again to get my IV going. OUCH. then, they had me hooked up to all the monitors for heart, O2, b/p, pulse. the doc came in and shot two different syringes into my iv line, and that happy woozy feeling started coming over me. sure doc, go ahead and stick that thing down my throat, i don't care. they put a plastic guide over my mouth, then just started sliding that scope right on down my throat. i wish they had at least sprayed my throat with some anesthetic! then maybe i wouldnt have kept gagging over and over. yuck. they took a look around and didn't find a blessed thing wrong! wahoo! so no bleeding from taking relafen in high doses for so long. i guess the anemia i have been fighting is being chalked up to heredity, since my mom and my sis also dealt with it. that's a relief. so, tomorrow i call dr. booth's office and see when i can get my ds done at last. guess i won't need my letter opener and desk stapler after all!! mary y st.louis itchin to be switchin

Guest guest
You are so right about having them spray your throat. I had a trans-esophogeal(sp?) echo done first, then the upper GI a month later. They are basically the same procedure, but there was a big difference in the way I tolerated them. For the first test they sprayed a ton of that stuff in my throat and it was horrible. I coughed and gagged... BUT the test went smooth as silk. I don't remember much of anything. When I had the Upper GI, I mentioned that the spray was gross and he went very light on it. I thought I was getting away easy. Boy was I wrong. I had major dry heaves through the procedure. It was horrible. The point: let them spray 1/2 the bottle down your throat, it's better than the alternative.
