Guest guest
I am wondering if anyone could share their daily menu and the amounts with me or point me in the direction to find one? I am 7 weeks out and cant seem to get in even half the protein I need. My doctor DOES NOT want me to use shakes or bars. But I dont see how I can get 75 grams of protein in through food. thanks Carol L

Guest guest
Your doctor doesn't want you to use shakes or bars? Good Heavens! I'm not an expert, but I think that shakes are a good source especially if you are recently post-op. Guest guest
Carol, Why not protien drinks or bars?..... I generally don't have these things, here is what I am able to eat at 12 weeks post op, I don't really count my protien every day, but here are some of the things I enjoy eating that are high in protien... Jack Links Beef Jerkey/ They have many yummy flavors of this, and you can buy it in a large bag for about 5 dollars, or in the beef stick for 2.99 or so... The beef stick has 26 grams of protien, and the big bag has over 60 g, I think..... I munch on these throughout the day,not all in one sitting, but I figure if I can finish by the end of the day I am half way there.... Scrambled eggs with melted cheese is always a good starting meal for the day. I enjoy steak or chicken, and I love seafood (shrimp, crab, or lobster) I think there is 6 grams of protien per oz, so if you have a 4 oz portion, that's quite a bit of protien knocked out. Cottage cheese is pretty good too. I don't really like it a whole lot, but eat it occasionally. As time goes by you will see that you are able to eat more and more. Just concentrate on your protien for now, and if you want the names of some good protien drinks let me know. Kim B. Dr. Anthone USC DGB/DS 4/18/01 -74 lbs/ 11 1/2 wks. There's this place in Chinatown here in Manhattan, NYC called 'Jerkey King' or something.. They make homemade stuff in pretty exotic flavors. I've been meaning to try some. I would think it makes a great snack, too since it is so portable and doesn't need to be kept refrigerated, etc. all the best, lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 five months post-op and still feelin' fab! pre-op: 307 lbs/bmi 45 now: 238 lbs (and goin' down???
