Guest guest
Hi everyone, It has been AGES since we've posted (excema and allergies had taken the place of concern over the brace with the bits of time I get on the computer) - Jasper is now just over a year old (what a milestone for all of us!) and is in his brace at night for about 13 hours. He is on to his third pair of shoes - always exciting when he grows out of a pair as I feel like it confirms that all is well and those little feet are busily growing. I remember when I first started reading this group at 25 weeks pregnant and some of you were saying that it gets easier, and the brace becomes part of the daily routine... well it has, shoes are a sleep cue (even though Jasper still wakes way too regularly at night) and he doesn't struggle with them at all ant more. Our best discovery lately is the sleeping bag - which prevents Jasper from playing with and undoing his laces! (and keeps him cosy all night). In the last few weeks he has learnt to crawl and to stand up in his cot while wearing the brace. He still has a lot of trouble if he gets himself on his stomach as he cant work out how to flip back over while wearing the bar, so wakes up and we have to flip him back. He has been 'walking' holding our hands for the last three months and his feet are getting better at it, but he seems to drag his left foot at the big toe, and drags both when tired. Is this normal? His left foot has more movement in it but the surgeon doesn't think it will need a tendon transfer as he is hoping it will correct passively. Has asnyone else had experience of this?? I hope everyone is well, and pray that all those baby feet are wriggling when they get a chance and correcting as they grow and you all are all happy (even through it all)! I have found some old nursery games to play with feet (such as this little piggy) that I could post if anyone wants me to. We do some feet games and Jasper knew where his feet and shoes were before any other body part, and they will always be special!
