Guest guest
Hi, my name is Marcia, I am a sahm to 3 wonderful kiddos, Rylan ds 4yrs, Addie dd 2yrs and Janelyse dd 3 months. My first two are perfectly healthy and haven't had any issues of any kind. My third is the interesting one We had a clue she might have something going on with her leg/foot when during an ultrasound we saw that her foot seemed to be at an odd angle. They were unable to confirm whether it was truly " twisted " or just the way she was scrunched up in there. When she was born she had one club foot, her right, and severely dislocated hips (that will require surger when she is around 9 months). We were seen by a pediatric orthopedist when she was 4 days old and she got her first cast when she was 2 weeks old. Our dr. uses the Ponseti method for correction, and so far we are pleased. She just got her final cast off today and got her DBB. It is an adjustment, but I hope a good one. It was good to give her a real bath, though she wasn't as thrilled as I was. She has always screamed awful when she gets a new cast (turns red/purple and barely breathes) and did the same when they put the DBB on her. Also, for the first day or so she will sleep constantly and only wake up long enough to scream and then nurse for a few minutes before falling back asleep, so that's very trying. Just mentally and emotionally exhausting. Her foot looks good though, I guess, it does look " squished " but the pictures I've seen of other feet right after cast removal look similar so I'm hoping it'll correct itself over time and start to look more normal. The DBB is challenging for her because of the angle of her legs, due to her hip problems, she cannot move her legs at all (her knees point out so when she bends her legs at the knee the feet come towards eachother, essentially putting her cross-legged) so I know that's frustrating for her, but she'll adjust, it's not much different than a cast as far as that goes. I can't wait to hopefully learn more about her foot...any others on the list going to Nemour's Children's Clinic in Orlando, FL?
