This is just my own personal bias, but I don't care for lists which are moderated. If you feel you must moderate, I think doing so on a person-by-person basis is better. It may be no great loss, but I for one won't remain on a moderated list.

While I can understand, since I have several of my own lists, the frustration when things get going in a direction not intended, the decision to moderate seems to me to take away the very thing that this list is about.

I'm on another list that is moderated and I no longer bother to post or actually read, just to lazy to unsubscribe, because anytime I don't agree with what is said, they don't post my response. This list, in MY opinion is one of the better WLS lists. There seems to be a great collection of both pre and post op people and for the most part everyone is here to help each other. I would not be having my surgery in a week if it wasn't for the people here. I wouldnt have gone this route if it wasn't for the people on this list. There have been alot of issues recently that have created problems, but that is going to happen on any list. There are alot of strong personalities and everyone has their own ideas on what is appropriate, proper, humorous, distastful, etc. What I find hard to understand is I never saw anyone here post a bad word about except to get help, try different things, and yet she felt it necessary to condemn us all but the three or four she saw a need to name as the only ones that helped her. I read alot of posts of people who felt bad for her and wanted to see her feel better but that was all ignored and all of a sudden we were all the bad people, and I guess still are. Now she's lost 20 lbs, is feeling better and thats fantastic. Noone here wishes anyone else illness or hard times after surgery. Then we have a few of the guys that like to be sarcastic, which I find the humor in, others don't. They have a right to post their opinions, and we all have a right to agree or disagree, but being rude and attacking them is not cool nor is it anything but rude. Maybe we don't all agree on the way some post but what we need to do is maybe lighten up, try to remember the reason we're all here and remember that we don't all have to like one another, we don't all have to respond to one another, if you don't like how a specific person posts, ignore them. Personally, I love it when a debate gets going, its fun, entertaining and I learn alot about a subject. No one has to win, or give in to agree or disagree. It just has to be done without attacking someone personally.

So anyhow..thats my thoughts, however little they mean here. Moderation will only end up killing the list, which is fine if that is the goal. As Stella said, I also will go because I don't believe in censorship and believe that the subject matter here is not in need of that.
