Guest guest
Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that had his follow-up with Dr. Feldman yesterday and he said the foot looks beautiful. Of course he also said we should keep the shoes on only 10-12 hours a day at night while he's sleeping and only if we WANT to at naptime. Why do they do that? Sigh. Well, Mr. ie will be in them at least 16 hours a day for a while. He sleeps for 12 hours pretty much anyway, so keeping them on for 4 hours longer, is not a big deal. Also, started PT today through Early Intervention. She said she was impressed with everything he does and did not find him to be much delayed in anything. (Perhaps she was just being nice. Although, there really isn't much that he is not doing but SHOULD be doing.) The OT comes tomorrow to work on the tightness in his hands. He just has tight muscles all around: neck, foot, fingers, shoulders. It really makes me wonder what was going on in that belly of mine when he was in there. Anyway, I just wanted to share my good news. Hopefully now the toe on his cf foot will start looking a bit more normal since it won't be smushed all day long. That upward-growing toenail caused a big dry piece of skin to form on the corner of his toe. Guest guest
, How old is ? The reason I ask is because 's muscles are finally starting to loosen up, but they are still pretty tight in his neck and hamstrings. His back and other leg muscles as well as his tummy muscles are also tight but loosening some. Many were tight when he was born but aggrevated by the fact they were hard to stretch in casts and then hard to keep stretched by the sheer fact that he moved differently with the FAB on. Him movements are still different because he has learned to adjust. Not usually a big deal, but his tight muscles continued to get tighter. I just wondered if he was younger or older than , so I would have something to compare it to. is 7 months, so I am guessing is a little younger because has been in his shoes for a few months. I haven't heard anyone else working through tight muscles with the shoes and all, so it would be nice to have a comparison! 11/19/04 Reduced hours for --Hooray! Hi everyone! Guest guest
Hi! is 6 months old. Hopefully the physical therapy will help loosen him up a bit! We will actually be taking him to a hand specialist to take a look at his fingers, but I've been procrastinating. His fingers have definitely gotten better, but I just want to see what a hand specialist will say. He also tilts his head to the left, so they will be working on stretching that out. The one thing that the phys. therapist was impressed with (besides his adorableness and sunny personality) was that his legs come together nicely--they are not perpetually in the DBB position when he's not in the shoes. I think these kids do need to get more exercise and as much stretching as possible since they DON'T get to move like other babies b/c of casts and bars and whatnot. Goodin wrote: , How old is ? Guest guest
, I hope all goes well with his neck. 's is really tight. He turns his head to the left, but can only tilt it comfortably to the right. The muscles in the back are tight, so he has a hard time tucking his chin also. The neck stretches on him are the hardest. Good luck with the PT. has been getting if for 3 months, and he is finally really starting to come along even though he is not consistently rolling or sitting up, we are getting there. Guest guest
, Hmmm... doesn't really tuck his chin either. I agree, the neck stretches are tough. He resists them and makes these weird wide-eyed faces like, " WHAT the heck is going on here??? " Keep me posted on how 's doing. Goodin wrote: , I hope all goes well with his neck.
