Guest guest
I had Dr. Buchwald perform my DS. I couldn't have asked for a more compassionate caring man, albeit VERY BUSY! Dr. B has done MANY revisions from RNY and VBG's over to DS's due to weight loss failure. He told me that I was his 1st 'virgin' stomach that he performed the COMPLETE Hess DS on. He meant that included the partial stomach removal after downsizing AND the intestinal bypass. With his revisions in the past, there wasn't usually much stomach to work with (especially RNY revisions) That didn't concern me in the least. He was very thorough in making sure I understood what the DS entailed lifelong. I emphasized that I only wanted to have to do WLS ONCE, and I wanted the platinum standard to begin with.....no revisions for me in the future, thank you. RE: the MMPI. I wouldn't go to Sudan in Omaha if my LIFE depended on it....and at the time I saw him initially, I thought it did depend on it. But his moronic pysche who gave me the MMPI and evaluated it said I wasn't worthy of his procedure. <spitting out all the 4 letter words I can think of....but NOT posting them > I had never seen this phych before, and we spoke for 20 minutes, and apparently she held enuf insight into my persona that she told Sudan in her eval that I wouldn't follow the post-op regimen, becuase I had an aversion to Dr's. What a crock of $h*t. IMHO, I don't think ANY type of phsych evaluation should be used as a barometer to determine who is 'worthy' of wls and who isn't. Oh man! Don't get me started on THIS subject. My keyboard is burning now. LOL! Well, so much for not being able to follow the post-op regimen (as this omnipotent shrink declared I wouldn't). I'm healthy as a horse (although not as large as one anymore), and have lost 80# since 1-15- 01 when Dr. Buchwald gave me a new start on life.
