It's not that we haven't 'figured it out' but that we are seriously debating what to do about this situation (which hasn't arisen in the past). This was an unmoderated list for open discussion and support. Until rather recently, it was a group that had few flamers or outright ridiculously sarcastic posts and/or personal attacks. There wasn't ever a need for blocking anyone's account, removing their posts from the list, etc. (and, despite some people's calls that 'censorship' has been wrought, none of this has occured to date). This will not be an issue if the list goes totally moderated. It might seem like an easy answer for some to just be 'heavy handed' and draw clear, black and white lines in the sand. When we do it, though, we want to be fair about it. Private e-mails (never mentioned on the list) have been sent in the past to remind those who got caught up in little 'mini-wars' and whatever. This was usually an effective way to remind people of the list rules and pour water on the flames. It wasn't that nothing was ever done to address these issues but it was taken off line and done privately between the list owner, moderator and various individuals. Whatever the outcome, this kind of 'free for all' will not be tolerated and something must be done. I'm sure will be officially speaking out on this issue in the near future. all the best, Noverr-Chin co-moderator lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 five months post-op and still feelin' fabu!
